Although I'm not really a jazz fan I do think that Kenny did a very great deal to try to drag jazz into the mainstream as a major music genre
I did actually enjoy his music because he played it with such enthusiasm and always with a smile on his face - and of course his appearances on the Morecambe and Wise show brought his talent to the attention of a very wide television audience
We've certainly lost another great musician and by all accounts a very decent man _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

There was a programme on Radio 2 earlier this year about Kenny Ball that I meant to listen to but forgot.. I hope they repeat it soon..he always looked a very happy, comfortable with himself, person to me.
I read this in one of his obituaries....
He had not played with his band – the Jazzmen – since a concert in Chemnitz, Germany, in January, when he left hospital to make the gig.
What a trouper!!

I saw Kenny five or six yers ago and it was clear then that he was struggling with some of the powerful motes. Great show though. _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |
