The third man of the comedy team. I have book of Morecombe & Wise sketches, reading them is not quite the same as seeing them two acting out the scripts. The news reports today suggest the Andre Preview sketch was the best ever, can watch it on youtube.

He was one of the best comedy writers ever in my view although of course it needed a duo as talented as Morecambe and Wise to bring out the genius of his work - a sad loss to add to many others this year Sad

It was - although, of course, it wasn't written by Eddie Braben.

Nor was the stripper, or anything featuring Shirley Bassey, Angela Rippon, or dancing newsreaders, or Singing In The Rain. Other than that, the news reports have been spot on!

Ian, I've read that the Previn sketch was apparently based on an older sketch from 'Two Of A Kind' written by Dick Hills and Sid Green, is that correct? And Braben re-wrote it for the Previn sketch?

That's correct, yes. The second version is better but it's still largely the Hills & Green sketch.

A sad loss. A modest man with nothing to be modest about. He was a wonderful writer.
