Interesting that the only musicals scooping Oliviers this year are the three "home grown" productions (Sunday in the Park, Caroline or Change and Cabaret).

None of our transatlantic shows (Avenue Q, Spamalot, Wickedgot a look in (although they did get nominations) . Could there be an element of bias here? More importantly could it jeopardise future transfers?

I listened to John Barrowman of Sunday and heard the hideous rip-off of 'Always look on the bright side'

That song is always associated with 'Life of Brian' for me.

Not sure it could be called a "rip off" as it was placed in the show by the guy who wrote it in order to inlclude as much popular python stuff as possible! It does work well in context though when you see the show (although not perfectly).

I'd have preferred to hear lancelot, not dead yet or the Song that Goes LIke This, personally.

Yes, I think it's better to hear "Bright Side" in context of the show as it's a little unexpected but really works.

As for the Awards, I was surprised that Sunday in the Park won so much. I wonder if it's a bit of snobbery by the judges?

Isn't Caroline or Change an import? It ran on Broadway from May to August 2004 and was nominated for several Tonys that year.
