Same rules as last time. (Were there any rules last time?) Except this time , I'm doing only one a week, cos it takes an age to upload, new planets have been formed in less time than it takes to upload one of these tiny videos.

Oh and the other rule change this time is, the clip is the beginning of the end of the tune, not the very end, not the beginning, not the middle but the beginning of the end. You'll see.

Clue. I've just been there.

I suppose being fair that bit isn't on the studio version of the track, it is though on the live version CDs. I did say(somewhere at some time) that these ones would be more difficult. Smile

Hmm..there's a chord that you play at 31 secs, which is reminding me of something. I've played it four times in a row, Rachel, and it's driving me crackers. It's in danger of being an earworm.

Enjoyed your Song For Guy, too.

Some lovely piano work again Rachel.

This is only a guess but could it be Elton's Funeral For A Friend?

I'll put you out of your misery Very Happy It's Tunnel of Love - Dire Straits - the instrumental part near the end about 14 minutes in on some (but not all) live versions, it's on the sheet music on the last page of 11 pages. My clue, " I 've just been there" , is that the song is about Spanish City, which was the most amazing fun park in a place called Whitley Bay on the coast in Northumberland. Everyone in the North East went to Whitley Bay when we were kids. I've just spent 3 weeks up there having a great time considering why I was there. I didn't want to come home because I felt at home right there with all my family. It made me realise how lonely I am most of the time but I digress. The next one is easy...

Ok here it is. This one from the early 80s is way off my usual territory. I had to program some of it.

Clue: so that's what it is?

Very Happy
Clue: it's a Pepsi and Shirlie track, although with all the percussion stripped out it's barely recognisable.

Must be Heartache, then.

You're right, it is hardly recognisable Laughing

Yep the drums, even though they're not real ones, make a difference. It's quite difficult to strip out a midi file without ruining it. Next one will be back to the normal heavy rock piano stuff. Very Happy Very Happy

In another change of plan and to make it more interesting, (harder) this week's tune is (or at least a very small part of it) played on my Ukulele (which in itself is a song but not this one). If that makes sense.

Clue: if only we could.

P.S. I can't play the Ukulele very well at all, so good luck with your guesses.

Ooh, how frustrating.
It's something fairly recent, isn't it?

Of course when my family heard your sample I got the third degree - "What's that?" - and I just had to repeat it several times Laughing

It's not that recent, Ron. Late 60s.

Next clue: join forces.

I think it's Rhinestone Cowboy.

I thought that quite early on, but it's one note out, the third one, and the clues don't fit, other than late 60s.

I'm still stumped, despite the three clues plus the six notes.

It does sound quite like that, OldRaver but that isn't it. Imagine it a little faster.

It still sounds more like Rhinestone! Like a rhine - stone...cow....boy

The six notes are there Ron, but maybe not the tempo, which I put down to Rach's uke playing...but after I posted it, I realised it was from the mid '70s.

There's a lot of artistic license in the rendition of Come Together... Shocked

Anyway, if the violin is coming out next week, I for one, can't wait. Razz

Good lord.
It was so familiar, and I was sure it was something from that 80s "New Romantic" period. How wrong can you be.

After a lovely week off, which included lots of sun, Cricket and a spur of the moment, spontaneous, all on my own ,350 mile round trip to watch the sun set at Land's End, last Tuesday, I think it was. The coming home part features in another thread. We're back with another installment of, the second most popular music quiz in town, yep, it's time to, name that tune folks. I know: how did you manage a week without one.

Anyway this week's tune is done:- see what you make of it.

Clue: as with anything really.

Oh PS. I missed the sun set by ten minutes

Now that's my sort of trick.
Sometimes I miss things by a whole day.

I have avoided most of the sport this summer. Every time I switched on to watch the cricket England lost a wicket, and every time I looked at Andy Murray he dropped his serve, so I deduced they were better off without me. And they were.

As to the tune, I haven't got a Scooby... Embarassed

That's the end of this series (season for any Americans), we'll be back in the autumn. Until then...
