Sorry but I've no idea Rachel, have you tried online first? A difficult time as a lot of sales on just now. Is it her wedding or is she a guest at one?

It's her wedding, Helen. I think we're pretty settled on Oxford Street but we have only 4 hours so we need an exact plan of where all the good shoe shops are, so we don't waste any time, especially if we need to try different parts of London. I've looked on line , for the Best shoe shops in London but we'd need a week to get round them all.

Does she know what she'd wants? Sometimes that's half the battle! Also the best aren't always 'the best' if you know what I mean Wink !

Get the tube to Knightsbridge - The stretch of Brompton Road from Sloane Street to Beauchamp Place (past Harrods) has more shoes than Ascot racecourse.Smile

Debenhams?

Mrs W and daughter definitely got some of their wedding wear from there.

I've just googled wedding shoes and there is a huge variety. I'd go for a pair of court shoes that are comfortable to her. Personally I find sandals of any kind are uncomfortable!

Ah, in that case a pair of furry Crocs will do fine!

Why not redirect your shopping trip to Bristol - a lot nearer where you live and by all accounts a superb selection of shopping facilities - probably on a par with London

Why is it that some people seem to think that there isn't a life outside the M25 corridor Sad

Good luck with your shopping though Rach - I certainly don't envy your task Smile

Ooh , they do look comfy, John.. I like those.

Bristol is really bumpy and the trains are rattley old slam door diesels, the London trains are electric, nice and have wifi in first class.

Ah yes Rach - you're right about those trains Sad

When I was much younger every year I used to buy a weekly 'Freedom Of Scotland' ticket and travel on the same trains only obviously the identical ones in Scotland - you also got to use any Cal Mac Ferry as part of the deal

One year I made the major mistake of doing it in February and we got snowed in on the line between Inverness and Dingwall at some very remote unmanned halt - amazingly a few people got off the train and struggled to some hotel over 2 miles away and we had a great party drinking superb malt whisky all night Very Happy

It's quite frightening to realise that 35 years later we still have the same trains on certain lines in South West England Shocked

There are trains over 40 years old on three lines of the London Underground.

As regards ladies' shoes my only observation, based on the personal experience of accompanying the OH on shopping sorties, is that four hours may not be enough Rolling Eyes

Did we pick the wrong day to to to London?

The next two hours were trouble free, hubby was waiting at the station with my comfy shoes.

Glad to hear mission accomplished.
The time and normal hassles of travelling to and from London make it a very long day even without having to cope with a drunk, which must have been quite unnerving - a bit of a shame that you had to give up your snack.
I think you need to send John Lewis a note, to point out the popular demand for a store somewhere south of the river Laughing

Yeah mission accomplished Very Happy I was really impressed with the way John Lewis do shoes, we picked 4 pairs and asked to try them in size 4.5, a quick radio message and bingo! 4 pairs of shoes arrived within a minute. Amazing. She walked up and down in each pair til she was happy. It was more like a perfectly planned SAS raid than shoe shopping.

You have to be careful with tanked up young chaps, my sarnies were a small price to pay for escaping unharmed.

Yes they are quite organised in J Lewis. Was is a special wedding department as I don't think I've seen 'wedding shoes' in either of my local branches.

Not a nice experience on the train though.

I always find that the less competitive, and therefore less popular, areas of JL, are much better staffed, organised, clued up and attentive. Shoes, nursery hardware, furniture and carpets all fine. Anything electrical or technical you might as well buy online for all the personal attention and know-how you'll get.

They have a bridal section on line, in the store in London, they had all the wedding shoes together in one glass display cabinet in the corner of a fairly big shoe dept. We were pounced on by a "personal shopper" the moment we arrived in the shoe section.
Picture above of the chosen shoes.
