The afternoon show has been given a bit more life over the last few days whilst Richard has been covering before Wrighty returns. The Irish fella just made it really sound off putting.

The same goes when Chris Tarrant covers. You need the afternoon show to sound lively. Richard and Chris do.

Richard has been sounding good this week-much better music played than Steve Wright who should be retired off Radio 2 asap.

Steve was away and returned with a stomach bug after eating a frozen Hungry Man Meal. He stays in this apartment and apparently bought it last time he was over in the US, but there was a power surge during the time he was away, and it obviously melted and froze again that's when he got food poisoning when he returned.

Well, he shouldn't eat junk food! No wonder he's so obese.

Dickie Dawn did an 80s show on breakfast this morning (well sort of, inbetween the other bits and the non 80s music he did anyway ) The music was good but it sounded like he was trying to make a point all the time ,in a sort of, see, an 80s show would be good kind of way. And that spoiled it a little for me.

Really enjoying tuning into Richard covering the breakfast show this week-not sure about the 60's coverage on Monday last-would prefer if that was left to Brian Matthew & co.

80's coverage/reference today very enjoyable imho.

I for once gave Simon Bates a miss today and listened to Richard

Very good show although I do tend to agree with Rach about the eighties thing - it was rather overdone although the actual music was good

Can anyone visualise Mr Allinson presenting 'Sounds Of The Eighties'? Smile

He's doing Rock n Roll tomorrow. I'm sure it'll be fun but not for me.

More of a nightmare for me. Very few people on the radio annoy me, RA is among that small number. I can, however, tolerate him in short bursts.

Me too - the problem with Mr Inverdale is that he doesn't need people to tell him - he believes it himself anyway Smile

I have to admit that however much I am not keen on RA, these days he is slightly better than some of the newer ones on R2, is that good or bad ? Rolling Eyes

I feel the same about Steve Wright, years ago I couldn't listen to him at all. Like you not sure if it's good though Confused

I was surprised nobody mentioned the 'Hairy Cornflake' - they could have played that spook version of 'Convoy' by who was it - Laurie Lingo and the Dipsticks Smile
