What on earth is happening at Trent Bridge????
It was all going swimmingly this morning.
Hats off to Agar and Hughes though .. .credit where credit is due!
Agar 92 off 93 balls...not sure about Hughes.
Records are tumbling by the minute!

Fascinating stuff....
It was great that Agar's parents had quickly come over from Oz to watch his debut when he was unexpectedly selected. Little did they suspect they would find themselves sitting in the TMS box being interviewed about their record-breaking son. Even the most partisan supporter was sorry when he was out on 98.
Happily, he took the headlines away from some very strange umpiring. |

Me included until it was pointed out by someone that we had won in 2005 at Edgebaston by just 2 runs...those two runs could be all important. |

Walk or not walk? I don't think it's in the spirit of the sport - for that's what it is, not to.
It's been a great test so far, though. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

Personally I would like to see players walk when it is plain for everybody (except the umpire ) to see that they are out. ...Adam Gilchrist was turned on by his own team mates for walking when he had been given not out by the umpire ..I say "good for him".. the game would be all the better for more like him
What is the pleasure in the win (not that I'm jumpin' the gun her ) if it is not gained 100% rightfully
After saying that it's 2-1 to the Aussies up to now in errors so ....
Michael Holding thinks Stuart Broad should be banned from the second series for his non walk
Holding said the International Cricket Council (ICC) should view Broad's decision not to walk in the same light as when West Indies wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin falsely claimed a catch against Pakistan in a Champions Trophy match at The Oval in London last month.
Ramdin was banned for two one-day games by the match referee, who happened to be Broad's father, Chris.

You Beauties!!! .. .. .never in doubt, was it?
England have never lost a test match when Bell has scored a century... I wish I'd been in possession of that fact before the match had ended!
Fantastic 5 days! !

Agree with littlepieces, the Broad (non)dismisal tarnished the victory. The thing about the other decisions was that they could only be judged using the technology. Broads edge was so obvious that I don't know how he had the nerve not to walk. _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

No change in the line up for Lords despite most of the pundits, I heard, saying Finn would be dropped.
The specially commissioned Test Match Special Ashes poem by Murray Lachlan Young.... the bard of 6 Music breakfast
It’s time again for twenty-two
To stand fore-square upon the turf
The baggy green and navy blue
Let cork and leather strike the earth
The willow-crack the ball in flight
Oh quicken hearts and hungers burn
The gold and green, the red and white
In quest to hold the sacred urn
But can it be true what the papers all say?
The Aussies are lost and in deep dissaray?
With talk of indiscipline throwing the book
Of Arthur’s dismissal or Warner’s right hook
And will Clarky turn up? Will Watson survive?
Can Agar and Hughes keep the Aussies alive?
Will Trott be on shot? Cook hit the boil?
With KP the nuts and Jimmy the foil
Will England be ruthless and brutally strong?
Or will the whole thing go unfeasibly wrong?
To the echoes of gleeful Australian cries
About rabbits in headlights and ‘chuckers’ of pies
For it wouldn’t take *memeralogical classes *new word
To recall the Kiwis were kicking our arses
Just six months ago, so shall we say no?
To braying or quipping, No counting of chickens
To gloating, showboating or talk of a whipping
For the summer is young and there’s miles to go
So it’s out with the mic and it’s on with the show
Where:
Aggers is anticipating,
Boycs is busy ruminating
Blowers is encapsulating
Ashers is corroborating
Vaugny is expostulating,
Grumpers coolly cogitating,
Victor is extrapolating,
Tuffers is discombobulating,
So:
Tune in for patter on bowler the batter
From Devon to Dacca, from here to the WACCA
As cricketing matters both former and latter
There isn’t a doubt that we’re in for a cracker,
From under to over From Dubai to Dover
To Woolamaloo we’re all here for the test
Of Test match special, quite simply the best |

Well they've made a great start, littlepieces, with their new man,Harris, taking 2 of the 3 early wickets.
We need Trott and Bell to steady the ship now (big time) |

.
It's looking very likely they will win this test after today's play.
England two down already, in their first innings, after only 30 overs
Cook is due a big innings so let's hope he delivers in this one...

Interesting times at Old Trafford ...England 27 for 3 + Clarke dropped Root a couple of overs ago.
Looking at the forecast this morning I didn't think there would be ANY play today. |

Pity about the weather.. I would much rather win a series fair and square without the weather being a factor....
I feel for Australia.
Listening to Merv Hughes and Kevin Pietersen talking to Freddie Flintoff (on TMS) is a + whilst the rain comes down. |

It's pouring down here and I just got a real soaking while out shopping. I came home and switched on the TV hoping that our rain was the Manchester lot sliding down the map but it seems set for the day up there. Tough luck for the Ozzies. |

The quality of the England team may vary between Test Matches but they can always rely on their loyal twelfth man - the Manchester weather
Though I'm not really a mad keen cricket fan well done England _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Don't think we deserved it at all, they outplayed us. I would have preferred us to have retained the ashes without relying on wet weather to help us. |

The defensive tactics and timewasting didn't befit a side that professes to be the world's best, either.
At least the Aussies have redeemed themselves a little, with the people back home. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

I can't believe it's nearly time for the last in this series
I agree with this article by Vic Marks in The Observer.
Quiet man of Ashes Ian Bell should be rewarded when series ends
Unassuming England batsman hits three centuries against Australia but has yet to be named man of the match

The lads are off down under today...
Alastair Cook's team will play warm-up matches in Perth, Hobart and Sydney before the first of five Tests starts in Brisbane on 21 November.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/24625869
Beefy is going for 5-0 to us ...I'd settle for a 3-2. |
