A UK Independence Party politician has been rebuked for declaring Britain should not send taxpayer-funded aid to "bongo bongo land".

The eurosceptic party has asked Godfrey Bloom, an MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, to watch his language.

So he hasn't heard of the term 'third world'?

Bongo? It's an Afro-Cuban percussion instrument. I don't think we send money to Cuba Rolling Eyes

He looks a real Victor Meldrew Razz

Of course using the term 'bongo' reveals some latent racism in his mind as he was using it to refer in general to African and Asian countries where he things they all just play bongos and the relief money gets squandered on palaces and weapons.

Gets politicians and Daily Mail readers talking!!

I don't think what he said was really any big deal

He was simply using the phrase to make his point in the same way some people might refer to Cloud Cuckooland - in other words a non existent place

He was really only saying what I myself have been saying on here for many months - why should hard pressed British taxpayers put up with our Government giving away their money to countries who have space programmes harbour terrorists and are directly competing with our own industries often putting British workers out of jobs

If Cameron and his posh mates want to give away their own millions to tin pot dictators in the third world then that's absolutely fine by me because essentially foreign aid should be a matter for private donations not British public funding and I certainly won't vote Conservative until this foreign gravy train bites the dust Mad

However I have to say that I do very strongly disagree with Mr Bloom's views about young working women as expressed on the JV Show yesterday Sad

Maybe not the best words for Godfrey Bloom to use, he does however have a good point about where our overseas aid money goes, unfortunately this has been lost on most of the media.
