In anticipation of the planned TV adaptation of the PD James novel, I'm starting this thread and repeating my last post from the Book Club thread, as follows:

Matthew Rhys is to play Mr Darcy. There's an article about him in next week's Radio Times.

I approve of that choice. He has just the right sort of brooding look about him, although he had softened in the book after being happily married to Elizabeth for six years and having a couple of little sons.

He was terrific as the villainous John Jasper in TV's Edwin Drood.

I agree,Eileen, about Matthew Rhys being a good choice for Mr Darcy.

Did you know he is currently starring in the ITV drama The Americans where he plays a Russian spy with a wife called Elizabeth. Smile

Any idea when Death Comes To Pemberley starts?

I haven't seen The Americans Becky, I must try and catch an episode. Here's a link to the plans for DCTP:

Not for a while - they're only in the middle of filming.

Thank you,Eileen and Ian,for the information.

I see the excellent Anna Maxwell Martin is cast as Elizabeth ...a good pairing imo.

I've just realised that Matthew Goode (Wickham) played Stanley the music journalist in Dancing on the Edge which I enjoyed.

Some of the filming has been done in this area over the last few days. I have just been reading about it in a local paper.

Yes I think so Becky, I watch most things that are filmed in places that I know.

Thanks for that Ian, I'll look out for it.

Here's a YouTube of filming at Chatsworth House:

More names from the cast list:

James Fleet as Mr Bennet
Penelope Keith as Lady Catherine de Bourgh
Trevor Eve as Sir Selwyn Hardcastle (Can't remember that character)

PS: I keep seeing the name Bennet with an extra "t" at the end. There isn't one! I hope the Radio Times gets it right when it's due for transmission.
