If anyone watches a reminder that the new series begins tonight.
I don't get many right but it keeps the old grey matter turning!

Thanks Helen!
As you say, good for the old grey cells...I surprised myself (and my daughter ) once (just the once) when I answered a fair few of the questions ...usually it's just the odd couple or so.
I wait for the music round...
I carry on challenging the grey cells with Only Connect that starts over on BBC4 when University Challenge finishes...do you watch that? |

Another faux pas by Paxman last night. He expressed incredulity at someone answering a recording of Fagin from Oliver as Omid Djalili saying that would be "interesting casting" when he was actuallly Fagin in the 2009 production. |

Sadly Paxman lately seems to be suffering from the 'Clarkson' effect
i.e. allowing his personality to override the need for competence and proper research in one's given field of expertise
Bamber Gascoigne would never have allowed that to happen - he was a true professional _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I met him at an event I was working on at the British Library a few years ago. He doesn't seem to have aged! (And yes, I agree with you re: Paxman's style). |
