Stuart Maconie's new book "pies and prejudice' is out soon I believe
Did anyone read Cider with roadies...
thoughts, comments etc etc?

(I liked his first one and am really really looking forward to the next - some parts of cider with roadies made me laugh out loud... and I was on the GNER! *cringe* !)

My pleasure. I listen to Simon Mayo instead of Wright nowadays, and there's often a good little interview like this.

Where's your avatar gone, Julia?

It's on my list of books I won't get around to reading. Neutral

So Maconie is using his show to promote his book signings. Who does he think he is? Terry Wogan!!

Laughing

To be fair, he mentioned them after the signings. And last time he had a book out he wasn't allowed to mention it at all - I guess he looked at Moyles and Wogan and thought "sod it"

He still needs a bit of practice at the self promotion game.

he doesn't use his show to promote them - he was only saying thank you to the people who went along!

Amazon are selling copies for £5.49: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pies-Prejudice-Search-Stuart-Maconie/dp/0091910226/sr=8-1/qid=1172608916/ref=pd_ka_1/202-4275413-3833469?ie=UTF8&s=books

I'll wait until they go sub-£2 on Marketplace then order a copy.

Somehow, I thought you'd bite when I posted that.... Smile

I very rarely pay full price for new books nowadays. Either I import them from the States prior to their UK release date (and still get them cheaper) or wait until Amazon Marketplace sellers start offering huge discounts. If you're prepared to wait a month or two, it's amazing how much you can save - MMPB prices in shops are just ridiculous especially when there are so many ways to get them much cheaper.
