This bloke is a bloody idiot. Could have killed himself, apart from that taking someone else with him.

He certainly is a moron but so are the magistrates for imposing such a lenient sentence.

According to our local news he is appealing against the sentence, I hope they increase it.

The prosecution or Attorney General would have to appeal for a longer sentence to be imposed Smile

This highlights the need for mobile police patrols. This sort of offence, together with use of mobile phones, cannot be detected by static cameras.Disqualification should be mandatory for both offences.

I thought this was detected by one of the CCTV vans our local police have for catching speeding motorists. They also catch people driving without wearing a seatbelt, using mobile phones and many other unsafe things that drivers do in North Yorkshire. There are lists in our weekly newspapers naming those who have been in court and their 'sentences'.

Precisely Ange, A mobile police patrol with video equipment - not the cashcow static speed cameras. Good to see such prosecutions. As for use of mobile phones - in the words of Billy Connolly - "Hanging's too good for them." Very Happy
