Harriet Scott makes her début covering for Anneka Rice on Saturday 1st March. Harriet joined Heart in 2002 and began Co presenting alongside Jamie Theakston until she left the station in 2012. She's since then presented for BBC London. Another female on board at Radio 2.

Male or female doesn't matter ...I don't see where the gender comes into it..it's how good they are at the job that does.

Looking at her name I was vaguely aware that she was in radio ...must have read/heard that somewhere as I have never heard her on it. A quick look on Wiki says she had an affair with Mike Hollingsworth, back in 1998,who was married to Anne Diamond at the time .... I might remember her name from that being in the media, not sure.

I heard Jamie Theakston's voice the other night on the TV as I switched channels .... I always thought he would be a bigger star (?) than he is ... I always quite liked him.He never seemed to recover fully (careerwise) from a fall from grace which as far as I could see was nothing to do with anybody else. He wasn't in a relationship at the time so was free to do what he wanted ... the press thought otherwise. Rolling Eyes

It's just seems Bob Shennan is trying to have more of a female cover than male. It's not a bad thing.

For the benefit of the last 6 or so voices who contribute to the various debates on this forum Ms Scott is a well known voice to those of us who live in London.

She is an excellent presenter-in the Lynn Parsons/Sarah Cox mould I would suggest, but with an added excellent /wicked sense of humour.

Before she is crucified on this forum I would suggest you give her a listen before you post negative posts about her.

Good work Mr Sheeran -will be interesting to hear what restrictions are imposed her re her debut on Radio 2.

Good luck HS.

Yes, I agree with you Mark (as I've noted on the other thread). She's potentially one of Shennan's more enlightened recruitments to the network..

With respect Mark - a typical comment from someone who believes the whole of this country revolves around London Rolling Eyes

Who has 'crucified' her on this forum - answer - nobody

If you bother to read my earlier post you will hopefully grasp that my problem has nothing whatsoever to do with this particular lady - I won't bother repeating what some people deliberately choose to ignore Sad

Nobody has crucified her Mark. I had a feeling she was someone known in London/south but as I've never lived there I can say once again that I've never heard of her.

I'm not that keen on female presenters as I've said many times in the past and as I rarely listen to Anneka Rice I probably won't hear her much either!

It does mention she was personally head hunted by Chris Evans for Virgin Radio on her agents profile.

Ruddles

One these: "]" will make a lot of difference to the appearance to your last post above - specifically by adding it to this sentence: "Good luck HS.[/quote "

Yes sorry Colin - last night I was so annoyed with certain people who make comments without properly reading existing posts that I substituted my 'Mr Angry' hat for my technology hat Embarassed

I too have never previously heard of Harriet Scott and on that basis I'll listen with an open mind. A previous post says she has a similar style to Lynn Parsons or Sarah Cox. I take that as a positive sign as they are both presenters that I do like listening to. As opposed to the assertion that the 'ginger whinger' was supposed to have 'head-hunted' her. I have yet to hear any trailers for Harriet's show so don't know what to expect. Again, unlike the 'ginger whinger', whose interminable trailers tell you exactly what you will have to endure, should you listen to more of it than the trailers (paracetamol - or something stronger - will probably be required afterwards to cure the resultant splitting headache)
Not all the recent R2 signings are bad. I don't mind Jo Whiley, Michael Ball & Paul O'Grady are a couple of the better 'celeb' presenters recently recruited. As I said at the beginning of this post, I will listen to Harriet as I may enjoy her show.
