It looks like Don Black's Sunday night shows are coming to an end next month. Mind you the original plan was for him to present up to October of last year only.

From 9 March 2014 in the 11pm to midnight slot there's a new show presented by Moira Stuart. It seems we'll get music in a similar vein to what's currently played although the producer is no longer Alan Boyd but Bob McDowall.

The publicity reads:

Moira Stuart launches her new Sunday night show with the best in easy listening and timeless standards performed by the greatest artists from the past 60 years.

Tonight, Moira has classic sounds from Bert Kaempfert, Patti Austin, Henry Mancini and Oscar Brown Jr, along with memorable musical partnerships from George Shearing with Nancy Wilson and Carmen McRae with Dave Brubeck.

Each week, a classic album is showcased, beginning with Scott Walker's 1970 release Til the Band Comes In, a mixture of his own compositions and standards.

More females presenting shows on Radio 2. Is she still reading the news on Breakfast?

You mean is she still one of Evans' lackeys? I think she is, Mark.

She will only be there until June as Don said last night that he will be back then.

The reason for his break is other commitments that have all come together.

Looking forward to June, then. I have been enjoying Don's programmes very much and like the fact that, as with dear David Jacobs, he actually knows or knew many of the artistes he mentions.

Did anyone listen last night?

I started off but was tired so switched off. What I heard was a bit jazzy, but on another day may have been okay. Much prefer Don Black so June can't come soon enough for me!

Apparently the Moira Stewart and Don Black programmes will be alternating in 13 week cycles. I will make a point on listening to last Sunday's show as it featured Scott Walker's little known album "'Til the Band Comes In".

I heard a few minutes on Sunday night, while doing the dreaded and ubiquitous washing up. Unfortunately, it was Nancy Wilson, who I find just dull. I might listen again and skip to the Scott Walker.

Don Black can't come back soon enough for me! He was the ideal replacement for dear David Jacobs and although I enjoyed some of the tracks Moira played, I thought it was a rather lazy production.

It's not her fault but there is no substitute for having a presenter who has first-hand knowledge of the artistes and music he plays.

It's Moira's last show tonight so Don Black will be back from next Sunday!

She said 'last of this stint' or something similar so she must be coming back later in the year.
