But not to many other people it would seem - sad though for Mick especially after them having been together for over 13 years Sad

Mick's in Australia..I think The Stones are doing their first gig of their Oz tour tonight. He won't stop the show for that...I'm not sure he knows of any other way, really. Oddly enough, Marianne overdosed when Mick (and she) were in Australia, shooting Ned Kelly.

You think these people have it all...poor girl. What a waste of life. They seemed quite settled too, by Mick's standards. Not that he'd have been monogamous during the time they were together.

I have to admit that if they hadn't put Mick Jagger's name prominently in this piece of news I might have struggled,at first, to remember just who this poor woman was.

Apparently she was well known,in some circles, for being a model and fashion stylist but the headlines concentrated on the fact that she was M.J's partner which I thought was a disservice to her.

You must be in a desperate way to end your own life so I hope she has found the peace she sought.

R.I.P

Depression can strike anyone and it has been reported she suffered from it.I suffer from depression as well and i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy

Pretty sickening front covers from some tabloids today, showing the moment Jagger was told the news. Very intrusive.

You poor deluded fool. They've called it off. Possibly the whole tour.

So do I. The Daily Mail's full colour front page photo of Jagger's face was intrusive, unnecessary and gratuitous.

Perhaps this revolting, hate filled excuse for a tabloid should stick to it's online pornographic filth (eg 13 year old girls in bikinis) at which it's so adept.

It's par for the course with the gutter British press and I'm not the least bit surprised - as you all know I've been banging on about the situation for months

The nature of the press we have in this country today has little or nothing to do with reporting true and accurate facts but everything to do with selling newspapers irrespective of whose feelings they offend or whose reputations they ruin with their despicable lies

As I've said before the only good journalist is a dead journalist - Colin excepted by the way as he's a writer not a journalist Smile

Agreed, it was beyond awful, mawkish and sickeningly intrusive.

R.I.P to the poor girl.

I have friends who are very good journalists, who aren't obsessed with "digging the dirt", who do seek to represent my interests and who would be very disturbed to read that!

That may be true Colin but when one of the gutter tabloids does 'dig the dirt' how many of these so called 'good' journalists stand up against this catalogue of lies and misrepresentations being peddled by the tabloid press?

In my experience none at all -they're all scared to death of making a stand against the likes of Rupert Murdoch for fear of suffering a drop in circulation so they end up reinforcing the attitudes of his newspapers even if in private they might not actually believe their own published comments

If we had a truly free press then we would see differing opinions between newspaper groups but in fact at present there is virtually no difference at all - they simply follow each other like sheep irrespective of whether they are obstructing the truth from coming to light - which is what good journalists should be concentrating on

The subject of suicide was discussed on the JV Show today and I was very moved by the comments of a lady who called in whose son had sadly ended his own life - she had just returned from the mortuary after having to identify her son's body only to find no less than four journalists on her doorstep asking intrusive and totally inappropriate questions given the circumstances at the time - the fact is these people are the scum of the earth who deserve to rot in hell and so called 'reputable'journalists do nothing to stop them carrying on with such evil practises - so they really are guilty by association - in any other profession such behaviour simply would not be tolerated Evil or Very Mad

The Guardian have their say on this today. Of course, there are still good journos out there, but sadly, they are a dying breed. I was brought up in a household where the Daily Mirror was the newspaper of choice...and had some brilliant writers, such as John Pilger, Paul Foot, Frank McGhee and Peter Wilson.

Robert Fisk of The Independent is a wonderful journalist, as is Simon Jenkins. Many others, too. Sadly, the vast majority of red top writers and editors are just hacks these days.

But still, where would we be without proper investigative journalists, to unearth dodgy dealings and the like, in all forms of society?

A very good Guardian article. Hopefully the tabloid editors will be referred to the Press Complaints Commission. So much for Leveson.
