Here's something a bit different for this year's Eurovision on Radio 2 with a separate radio station running from midday on Thursday 8 May to midnight on Sunday 11 May. It's only available on DAB or online. Full info here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/aboutthebbc/posts/Eurovision-2014-on-BBC-Radio-2

Brett Spencer writes:

The schedule reflects the depth of content that listeners have come to expect from Radio 2. There will be live shows from Copenhagen presented by Paddy O Connell and Scott Mills along with Radio 2 regulars Graham Norton and Ken Bruce. Ana Matronic and Bucks Fizz will set the party atmosphere on Saturday night with Paddy hosting a post-show party. There are Eurovision themed editions of Sounds of the 60’s with Brian Matthew, Sounds of the 70’s with Johnnie Walker and Sounds of the 80’s with Sara Cox. Terry Wogan presents the history of the Irish in the competition while David Quantick hosts the Blaggers Guide to Eurovision. There’s loads more including the story of Abba with Scott Mills, new shows hosted by Michael Ball, Maria McErlane and a range of archive documentaries.

At first I thought 'oh no not more waste of money on Eurovision', but some of it could be quite good.

I definitely won't bother with the live shows from Copenhagen or the actual contest though!

The most entertaining part of the contest is the voting.

Yes, I sometimes switch on for that!

Absolutely right! I've long felt that as well. It would be really funny, let's face it.

Great news for ardent fans of Eurovision!

Threads over on the BBC board always attracted lots of attention.

This is weird. I was about to post this, when lo and behold, it's being played on JV!

I'd only just watched the video, as David Symonds flagged it up.

Ukraine will win, I'd have thought, but for a welcome change, we have an entry to be enjoyed.

Great video, too.

Situation in Europe is somewhat altered since the last competition - should be interesting!

A lovely moment on Saturday's programme - Gigliola Cinquetti singing the 1964 Italian winner ( Non Ho L'Età ) of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Well - what a turn up for the books - we came second!! Graham's incredulity, as the points rolled in, was a joy to listen to.

I read that Sam Ryder had really made an effort and had travelled round Europe beforehand advertising his song - he apparently is a nice man too which endeared him to a lot of people abroad.

Heard our entry in full for the first time on Saturday and it sounded good but didn't really expect our 'success' even though some were cautiously saying it had a chance

It was, of course, inevitable that Ukraine won and I'm sure Mr Putin heard the cheers in Moscow! Wink
