Winning the Lottery?...used to dream of winning the pools years ago Very Happy Littlewoods and Vernons (were there any others?)

Do people still do the pools? I also used to,religiously,do Spot The Ball

Going back to the Lottery I used to buy one when it first started but I gradually dropped off and since it has gone up to £2 a throw I haven't bothered and can't see me doing so again.

If however I did buy one and did win I would do very ordinary things to start off with like seeing my family right and indulging friends in nice things. Those are my first thoughts but as the reality sunk in I'm sure there would be lots of frivoulous ways ( I would get Paul and Ringo to sing for my birthday Cool ) I would find to spend (some of) my new found wealth and have a great time doing so!

Good works would get a look in too.

Good luck with your Lottery ticket, littlepieces. (if you do win I hope you remember I wished you luck) Wink

I gave in too! I went to the website, got a ticket for tonights raffle and Friday's EuroMillions raffle... then spent £1 on the Bullseye instant win game, in which I won £5.

So, even if I don't win a million in the draws I've at least broken even so far!

Oh, and I'd buy a new computer and go on holiday to China, New York, LA, and Australia.

Many moons ago, when I was a wee lad, I remember Dad used to do Copes pools.

People still do the pools and in actual fact for them it's better than in the old days because if they win big they are far less likely to end up sharing their jackpot with others quite simply because less people are participating

I've almost convinced myself there Laughing

I'm a little surprised, ruddles ...can't say I ever hear anything about them these days...
And do Littlewoods,Vernons and Copes still run them do you know? After asking that I have a vague memory that Littlewoods packed up but I could be wrong.

Littlewoods Pools does definitely still exist Becky - I think they might have gone bust at some stage - but the name is certainly still around today - I don't know about Vernons

I would guess that statistically one must have a better chance of winning the pools today as against winning the lottery but as I do neither I'm probably not the best person to comment Confused

Seeing nobody won it yesterday, I hope to remember to buy a ticket. If I did win the jackpot, I'd probably split it with my daughters. And a Fender Strat and Martin acoustic for moi.

I think you can get Littlewood's Pools from newsagents, though I'm not certain. Doing the pools was better than the lottery, because you could check the results on the videprinter on Grandstand. My old Dad, bless him, had all sorts of plans and permutations. Resulting in a lot of "close, but no cigar", but nevertheless, a fair bit of enjoyment, for his stake.

With the lottery, you're usually scuppered with the first ball.

I have been lucky with the £100,000 scratch cards. I dont win large amounts but cover the price of the cards. No such luck with the lottery card. Someone told me there was a better chance of winning with the Thunderball, but I have drawn a blank so far
