Keep it safe, don't rock the boat... don't do anything that might in any way surprise, startle or interest the 8m listeners.

To be honest, it could be anyone sitting in for Ken as long as the awful Gary Bones is choosing the music.

They don't want to put anyone who will out do the main the presenter in these slots. Although some probably could do that.So they keep Allinson, Long and Lester hidden away.

I did hear him say that he'd just flown in from Japan on the weekend before his Monday start in Ken's seat.

It really is a shame that Michael is forced to work with the totally inept Gary Bones yet again.
I've listened to quite a few of Michael's Sunday shows and he normally has a varied selection of music and seems to have a genuine love for a lot of the tunes.
Come on Michael, stand up to Bones and tell him you're not gonna play Gary Borelow, Coldplay and Ceelo Green every day, BE BRAVE!!!

What the hell was Michael on about -" don't eat on the train whilst discussing eating on public transport which was part of Jeremy Vines topics http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-27025766. MB sounds a bit of snob. I bet he's eaten out of paper before. Laughing

Lets ban fast food outlets.

Speaking of Lazy Bones - I'm sure Coldplay's "Magic" has been played between Popmaster rounds at least 5 times since it was Record of the Week 2 weeks ago. It's a complete absence of imagination

(no doubt we'll be getting War of the Worlds or Scenes From An Italian Restaurant in a minute, after Round 2)

They'll be saving those, along with the dreaded Moat Leaf, for Ken's return.

And Bruno Mars must be about to release another single, surely? Mr Bones will require that Ken plays it a million times.

"Lazy Bones" I like that Ian, haha.
I can' teen see the point of having a record of the week anyway. It was O.K when they weren't totally dictated to by the playlist as it gave a good new record a chance to be heard. They will be playing Coldplay non stop so what on earth is the point of having Coldplay as the record of the week in the first place?

Michael's back so I'm not listening this week. Wonder what has happened to Zoe Ball - she seems to be making her own videos now for her YouTube channel, like she's in denial or something.

I don't think that's it. She's been the regular stand-in for Ken while he looks after his many kids, and she's still doing her home videos about cooking and films and stuff like that.

I wish I'd known sooner that Michael Ball was sitting in for Ken. Don't like Ken, do like Michael!

Radio 2 is currently a total no go area for me during weekdays with the exception of the SW Oldies half hour and the Folk Show this evening

Ball, Feltz and Tubridy are all second rate stand ins full of their own importance who should never ever see the light of day on any national BBC radio station Evil or Very Mad

Hello, my lovelies!

The morning show this week has been almost unbearable, culminating in the chump completely breaking the station so the emergency tape kicked in. Why do they persist in re-hiring him? He is completely useless!

OMG what has he done Ian?

I turned it on to hear the 'Wake them up' feature and the radio was crackling (my old radio alarm) so turned it off and haven't switched back on. Smooth Extra is still playing on the kitchen radio from breakfast with Andrew Castle, I don't mind him but they don't get to talk that much on there do they!

H

PS You won't believe this but as I walked from the kitchen Smooth was playing Lemar's If There's Any Justice, I switch on to see what's happening at R2 and they are playing the same thing.........

He was, as usual, banging on about Popmaster starting at 10.30 and not a moment earlier (despite Ken usually starting it at 10.28 ) and somehow managed to crash the desk so that there was over a minute of silence before the emergency tape kicked in.

I do get annoyed when this giggling buffoon always starts his show with 'hello my lovelies'. It's as bad as the Annoying Little Twerp on Saturday mornings saying 'Did you miss me?'
Thank God for Ken Bruce and Brian Matthew, who are grown ups, and treat us like grown ups.
