Quote: | AC/DC are reportedly planning to announce their retirement due to the illness of a founding member.
Rumours have been swirling in Australia about the imminent demise of the 41-year-old band, which is one of the most successful groups in music history.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported guitarist and songwriter Malcolm Young, 61, returned to Australia with his family and was believed to be unable to continue playing. The newspaper said the band could announce its demise within days. The musician's difficulties were discussed by his pal Mark Gable, the frontman of fellow Australian band Choirboys who said it appeared the 61-year-old "is unable to perform any more".
Gable said in an interview with ABC Radio: "Malcolm is sick. From what I understand, and it's even been confirmed in part by his son Ross, that it would appear Malcolm is unable to perform any more.
"It's not just that he is unwell, it's that it is quite serious. It will constitute that he definitely won't be able to perform live. He will probably not be able to record." |

A short statement on their Facebook page
After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.
In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music. |

Can't stand screechy singers.
But...I do like Whole Lotta Rosie, when done by this gentleman...
