Publicist Max Clifford has been arrested by police investigating sexual abuse claims against Jimmy Savile, it has emerged.
The 69-year-old is being held by detectives working on Operation Yewtree, a probe into historic sex offences.
He works for himself so he will need to suspend - himself. For god sake this could end all people going to him for advice. That's his business shut up shop. Of course if it is all true.. |

With all these allegations being flung around like mud it's hardly surprising that a large number of high profile people will be questioned by police
It certainly doesn't follow that all or even many of them will be charged with offences so please let's keep a sense of proportion about this whole thing and quite frankly your 'tabloid' style postings over issues like this aren't particularly helpful Mark _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I agree Ruddles. So far as I can see, most of these people haven't even been charged, though I have no sympathy for the ghastly Max Clifford.
Mark does seem to assume that everyone who is arrested is automatically guilty, as exemplified by his comment two years ago that the man arrested in connection with Joanna Yeates' murder in Bristol should be hung, even though he was released without charge! |

The fear of being seen to do nothing in response to allegations of sexual assault is what is driving the Crown Prosecution Service and the Metropolitan Police.
Imagine if you were to go into a Police Station and said "Ronnie Kray punched me in the mouth in 1963" with no witnesses - how far do you think that would go.
I am praying that one of the accused makes an allegation of indecent assault against one of their accusers - then HER name can be published as well. _________________ Standing on Ray Moore's shoulders |

Mark's problem is that he doesn't read anything properly - possibly in too big a hurray to copy and paste the latest gossip here! |

Yes, Chris Jeffries was awarded a substantial payout (quite right too) for all the rubbish the papers printed about him.
As for Clifford, odious though he is he has not been charged with anything yet so personally I don't think they should have released details of his arrest to the news outlets. |

Shame we have to wait till Friday before this odious little man is sentenced.
I notice from his previous court appearances that he was limping a bit. No doubt this is all pretend, and he will claim 'illness/sickness' to try to get a non custodial sentence. |

Perhaps ruddles could answer this question....
Why,after he was found guilty, was Clifford allowed to go home,on bail, until his sentencing on Friday?
I though after a guilty verdict you were put straight into prison to await sentencing.
There was an Afternoon Drama on Radio 4 last Thursday, with the excellent Kenneth Cranham, that was pertinent to the cases that are being heard today re historic sex allegations.
Worth a listen..

Becky you have to remember that Clifford was not remanded in custody after previous hearings and in fact was never detained beyond his initial arrest and subsequent charging
I would guess that he would have been ordered to surrender his passport almost from day one so there would be no risk of him fleeing for a nice quiet life elsewhere in the world
Generally speaking because our prison system is so overstretched even convicted people who are awaiting sentencing will not normally be held in custody unless they represent a serious threat to the public and it would seem that the judge in this case took the view that there was no such risk
I suppose his line of thinking was that because of the massive publicity attatching to this case it would be virtually impossible for Clifford to commit further similar offences as every parent in Britain would be on their guard if Clifford came into contact with their offspring _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Thanks, ruddles .. .. I thought (wrongly) as I said before that when someone was found guilty that their liberty was automatically taken away. |

He was sentenced to 8 Years in jail with him serving just half. Seems to be a finished man now. |

How do you know he'll serve only half Mark?
It depends whether he's a good boy and based on what we know about his life to date that's by no means certain _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I bet he'll only serve half, all the same!
Still, at least his "PR Guru" status is now stuffed. |

I just find it very ironic and even amusing that gutter papers like The Sun and the Daily Mirror are slagging off Max Clifford to high heaven - quite rightly - but of course what they don't tell people is the fact that for almost half a century they worked with him and peddled most of the fabricated c--p in which he engaged on a very regular basis
I've met Max Clifford and could say a great deal more but will simply satisfy myself with reminding everyone of the well known mantra - 'What Comes Round Goes Round' - or is it the other way round - I can never remember _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
