Surely Ian if they got rid of Ms Feltz on the grounds that listening figures had dropped on her watch it would be an entirely different situation from the Miriam O'Reilly scenario - she was dispensed with purely based on age - there was no evidence that Countryfile viewing figures had substantially dropped - so we're not talking about a comparable situation Smile

O'Reilly was dropped because the BBC completely revamped Countryfile to make it into a primetime show. They only retained two presenters (John Craven and Adam Henson) and the revamped show saw ratings rocket from 1m to 7m.

Yet O'Reilly still won her case for unfair dismissal. I can see why the BBC are paranoid about the issue.

I just signed the petition "Bob Shennan: Review decision to axe Richard Allinson's weekend shows. #saveSundayShuffle" on Change.org.

If you want to sign this, here is the link:

http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/bob-shennan-review-decision-to-axe-richard-allinson-s-weekend-shows-savesundayshuffle

I signed this for the same reason that I posted about Alex's show. When I can't sleep these shows keep me company.

Signed.

Gutted that RA is dropped-his shows are the best on the radio .

Radio 2 is going down the toilet-only decent shows left are Huey Morgan and Bob Harris.

Signed, Along with the Alex Lester one.
It might be a good idea to fill this out too, so it becomes official: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complain-online/

I wonder if Richard will fade away after October from cover work? It does seem that may happen as there is only certain amount one can do and not everyone is on holiday at certain times of the year.

I'm only suggesting he might move to BBC local next year? Mark forrest network evening show?

Mark it's not the first time that Richard hasn't had a show on Radio 2.

When his Saturday show was given over to Evans he disappeared and turned up on Radio Oxford a few months later on Sunday mornings, a very good show which ran maybe a couple of years. He also did an Album show (can't recall the exact name if it wasn't that) that went out on several local stations for quite a few years.

I hope he returns to Radio 2 other than as a stand in.

It was called " Richard Allinson Albums" also true Sunday mornings on BBC Oxford too. He does have outside work with his company too.

You're not making sense Mark, as Richard hasn't done the Bank Holiday afternoon for ages. He's doing Evans show as it is on Monday.

So he is! I read somewhere else that he was doing Bank Holiday Monday but it was a few weeks ago so it's obviously changed. I'd not checked Radio Times yet. Must admit I'm out of the habit of turning on R2 in the mornings these days!

An absolute joy to be able to listen to R2 before 930 again, albeit for a limited period.

I thought I read somewhere that Magic and Richard are going National on DAB in the New Year. Anyone know if this is the case?

There was no indication at the end of his festive breakfast on Radio 2 he wont be doing anymore shows for the station. I can't see him leaving, but he's back on Magic Drivetime from the 5th Jan.

He doesn't have to "leave" anything because he's a freelance. That means he can pick up short-term assignments wherever and whenever they're offered. The vast majority of today's radio and TV "talent" is on freelance contract and are either tied for the duration (as are many of R2's mainstream regulars) or not. Allinson clearly isn't.

On a couple of occasions during breakfast I did hear Richard making it clear he likes being there at Radio 2.
