As Bob Dylan would say 'The Times they are a Changing'

Let's just hope history repeats itself to the point where their rapid demise ends in relegation in a few years time

They never matched Liverpool in the number of Champions League/European Cup successes and hopefully it's only a matter of time before we regain the record for the most League championships - as unlike the Red Devils both Man City and Chelsea have a lot of ground to make up Very Happy Very Happy

Oh by the way Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I was brought up not to laugh at the misfortunes of others. Razz

I feel for David Moyes.

Everybody was in unison about what big shoes he had to fill and his start at United could not have been worse. For whatever reasons things are not gelling since Moyes took over and whilst I wouldn't want a return to the dominance of United (same with any team give or take a couple Wink ) as under Fergie I hope it's not long before things pick up for Moyes and United.

I must admit i do have a soft spot for UTD and would rather they won the title then city and chelsea.Liverpool seem to be heading in the right direction and Arsenal are just arsenal.

As for Spurs i would be happy with 5th this season

Well, they're not going to win the title, are they!

Even Ken had a pop at them this morning. David Moyes is answering questions on Popmaster, he could do with the points.
Man Utd will be in Europe next season, once they've chosen a song.

I think Davie Moyes is only being kept in a job, because the Glazers don't want to have to pay off his 6 year contract. I thought he was the right man for the job at first, but it's become apparent that he isn't.

That said, Fergie left him with a squad of mediocre and aged players, who were ready for the knackers yard. That said, the reason they are still in the Champs League, is because he picked Giggsy last week. How on earth they won the Prem last season, is one of life's great mysteries, unless you just say it was Van Persie who made the difference, because they weren't all that last year.

He seems to have aged about 15 years since the beginning of the season

I reckon Everton got the better of that particular deal Smile

Without a doubt, Rudders. Bill Kenwright is a very shrewd man. Everton are lucky to have him.

Ironically, I've heard a fair few calls from United fans on the radio, demanding that Martinez should be the next manager. Now, as far as I'm concerned, Everton right now, are a good, if not better, and also, I think it's such an arrogant stance to take. I would hope that Martinez , should he ever be offered the job, would turn it down flat.

I loved United as a schoolboy and beyond, in the days of Charlton, Law and Best. Though it's the same name, it's a different game, whereas Everton are a refreshingly old fashioned club. Back in those days, I think they may well have been the richest club, too.

They were the richest club in the sixties without doubt raver - and as a Liverpool fan I have to admit they are only one of two Premier League clubs who have never been relegated Embarassed

I doubt Martinez will make the same mistake as Moyes - nobody can improve on what Ferguson achieved so why would anyone want to participate in a downwards spiral - oh yes I forgot - the money Rolling Eyes

Oh by the way at the start of the season I put a £10 bet on both Liverpool and Everton to finish in the top four of the Premier League - at odds of 33/1

Looking at the way Arsenal are stuttering with Everton having a game in hand I reckon that might just have been amazingly a sensible decision Smile

Saw on the local news the other night that work has begun on a stadium for FC United ...the rebel club set up in 2005 in protest at the Glazer family

They currently play home matches at Bury’s Gigg Lane and are chasing promotion from the seventh tier of English football.

I'm not into football at all but I note with interest that MU is drawn against MK Dons soon. That should be fun!

New season, new manager - same problems

The fact is that everyone at that club has failed to appreciate that the current squad is greatly sub standard when the likes of Liverpool Arsenal Tottenham and Chelsea have all improved their teams and Man City probably already has the best squad in the Premier League if not the world

With less than two weeks of the current transfer window left every club in the world knows that Man United are desperate and so will charge inflated prices for possibly quite mediocre players Smile

Even though they fielded a weakened team tonight, Man Utd were utterly humiliated. Their defence was appalling. Congrats to MK Dons.

"Manchester United has reported a sharp fall in annual profits despite record revenues for the year

The football club said net income plunged 84% for the year to 30 June to £23.8m, from £146m a year ago." .

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29140959

I wonder if Man U are rueing shelling out £5.2m in compensation to David Moyes and his back room staff seeing as their sacking has made little difference to their fortunes on the field.

There are some very witty football supporters out there who are blessed with long memories....when Phil Dowd, the referee, slipped and fell during the Man U match today some of the crowd shouted out something like "Who do you think you are, Stevie Gerrard?"

Man U beat QPR 4-0 today and the commentators were full of praise for how they played.... a glimpse of things to come??

it was only a poor QPR and they still looked dodgy at the back. Their first test of the season will be Everton in a couple of weeks. But didn't the commentators love them

From other thread,

becky sharp wrote:
Game,Set and Match........ to United, proclaimed Stan Collymore, when Man U scored their third goal despite there being thirty odd minutes still to play in the match this afternoon.

Minutes later he was eating his words (big time) when Leicester scored twice within a couple of minutes to equalise.

And more was to come as Leicester scored twice more to win the game 5-3.....WOW ....what a game it sounded!

Look forward to seeing it on MOTD tonight!

From Twitter...

Enjoyable match. The ManU goals were very good, can't say the same for their defence Smile watching Rooney throw a wobbler was entertaining Razz

Congratulations to FC United!

FC United will be playing in the Conference North next season after sealing a fourth promotion in their 10-year history with a 1-0 win over Stourbridge.
The breakaway club were founded as a direct result of the Glazer family's takeover of Manchester United.
The club open their purpose-built stadium next month, when they will play Benfica in a friendly.
