Heard a trailer for this today...

Suzi Quatro revisits the songs her father taught her

At the start of her 50th year in rock, Suzi Quatro revisits some of the songs that have influenced her.

In this first programme of four, she turns to the piano and reminisces about some of the songs that she learnt from her father. Art Quatro was a big band leader in Detroit, and the young Suzi was exposed to all the pop music of the day, from the big bands and crooners right through to early rock'n'roll and soul.

Tuesday at 10pm

Sounds as if it could be good!

The other evening I was surprised to see her in an episode of Midsomer Murders from about five years ago - the one where she gets electrocuted by a live mic stand wired up by the killer - I recall seeing her playing live in a barn near Leicester in the eighties - a really talented lady and great to see her back Very Happy

This series got off to a great start last night.

I remember loving some records only to be told by my mum or dad that they were old songs....not very cool to hear when you are (or think you are) a hip youngster... Cool ...goes to show though that great music endures.

I loved the version of I've Got Rhythm by The Happenings that Suzi played and listening to Dream a Little Dream Of Me by 'Mama' Cass Elliot I was again reminded what a beautiful voice she had.

She played Bye Bye Blackbird by Julie London and then a version by Joe Cocker. The version I love of this is one from the soundtrack of The History Boys.

For whatever reason I mistakenly thought it was a half hour programme and set it to record as such ....won't make that mistake next week.

I missed this too, I fell asleep in the chair and woke up too late to record it. I am definitely going to catch it on Listen Again though. Very Happy

I was rather disappointed when I 'Listened Again' to the latest episode from this series. I had (mistakenly) thought all four programmes were to be about the songs that Suzi's father loved and played, but no,it's primarily to celebrate Suzi's 50 years in showbusiness and this week it was her favourite covers of Bob Dylan compositions. (I love Bob but was not expecting covers of his songs on this programme)

I did hear a cover, that I can't remember hearing before though, that I immediately loved, so well worth listening for that alone. Cool

Lay Lady Lay by The Everly Brothers from a 1984 album of theirs

(Still no playlist for this or Bill's programme) Evil or Very Mad
