Roddy Doyle,the ghost writer, of Roy Keane's new autobiography said that when he first met Roy he had a sense that he would be affable and that he is
Affable
adjective
1.
pleasantly easy to approach and to talk to; friendly; cordial; warmly polite:
an affable and courteous gentleman.
2.
showing warmth and friendliness; benign; pleasant:
an affable smile.
Not a word that would spring to mind when I think of Roy ....to be fair though I have never met him.  |

Can't think how anyone can possibly describe him as 'affable' - for me the man is a complete a--hole  _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I agree, affable is the least appropriate adjective.
I have to say, though, that he speaks a surprising amount of good sense when being a pundit on TV, compared to most footballers anyway. |
