Spurs are an excellent team right now. I do wish Harry Rednapp was still there Smile

My team? Coventry. Now in Div 1 old Div 3, playing quite well, might get to play-offs but there's constant concern off-pitch about the club 'owners' finance accounts, and the stadium owners might kick the team out for not paying rent, no money for new players, embargo anyway, getting through about 2 managers every season, just got a new one yesterday......

Yeah, he played with us Premier League before Strachan had us relegated, very committed, and not a great tackler, used to call him Penalty Pressley Smile

Other local team : Cov Girls under 16, wife's cousin daughter plays for them, watched them yesterday. Girls football can be at a good standard, they can run with the ball, pass it, and defend/hold the ball, and there's always big/strong girls willing to be goalie. Weakness is shooting from outside the box, they need to develop strength to shoot and that takes years.

How's my team doing? On the pitch not bad, but off pitch.....

.... news from the High Court - Coventry City IS in administration. At least 10 points deduction, so forget the playoffs.

Hmmmm it COULD be more than 10 points which might take us into a relegation battle

They will almost certainly avoid relegation, even with a ten point deduction.

Let's hope they avoid a 20 point deduction!

Stadium owners have announced the remaining home games can be played at the Ricoh Arena (the stadium owners will make money from that anyway, in sales of beer and burgers)

It's always baffled me, why they moved from Highfield Road. I've a soft spot for Coventry as well.

Website confirms 10 point deduction, and table now has us at 14th. We won today Very Happy so we will be staying in Lge 1.

The move from Highfield Rd? Ah, the story is that the (then) chairman Richardson or his family had some dealings with George Wimpey who bought the old site and built (and sold) 100 apartments on it.....

What the hell is going on , John? This move to Northampton, isn't only a load of cobblers, but professional suicide. I can see them ending up in similar circumstances to Portsmouth. Jimmy Hill must be spinning in his beard.

My club seems to be on a path to total destruction. The impending liquidation seems like the final straw; they can't play home games in Coventry; most the fans have marched through the city, declaring unwillingness to go to home games that are not at home; a large points deduction (before the season starts) could lead to relegation to Div 2 (old div 4, the bottom league in League Football); can't sign any decent players.....

Ha ha yes, my missus (to be) bought me the scarf!

Heard earlier, already had 10 points deducted! Evil or Very Mad

Coventry City chief executive Tim Fisher is quoted using language like 'these point deductions confirm that the club has been saved' Rolling Eyes

Coventry went to AFC Wimbledon last night to get the cup started. I watched the match on BT Sports, ch 426 on the Skybox.

A typically odd cup game. Wimbledon's goalie was stuck in traffic so a young sub had his first game - an FA Cup game! He did great the first half, and Cov were not playing well. Then second half an unfortunate fumble, I really feel for the lad.

And again, typical of the cup, a well off-target free kick was kneed in by an Wimbledon defender.

So, two bizarre goals got Coventry through.

Poor Wimbledon goalie, I wonder how he slept last night. He must be reliving the incident, but instead punching the ball away! Really feel for him. But I expect his gaffer will get him through this and play him again very soon.

Oh, Cov have to replay Hartlepool in the cup! Rolling Eyes

I enjoyed the Man U vs Newcastle game on BT Sport. First Geordie win at Old Traffod for 41 years!

Moyes' explanations on the after game interview strayed awkwardly when he said something like 'It's a period of transition' then followed that by It's the same team who won the Premier League', like he's almost admitted that HE is what has changed things for the worse? Very Happy

Credit to Manchester United fans...the one minute silence for Nelson Mandela was followed by a further 90 minutes silence!

I thought before Moyes took the job as to why anyone would want to do so bearing in mind that they are never going to surpass the achievements of one Mr Ferguson - for whoever took over the only way for MU is down

There is a very close parallel with the situation in the late sixties when Sir Matt retired as manager and was moved up to the boardroom and cast a very long shadow over the day to day actions of the subsequent manager to the point where the club ended up having more than six managers over the next fifteen years and the lack of stability resulted in the club being relegated in 1984

Now OK -as a Liverpool fan people might say I'm a bit biased but I actually do seriously believe that history will repeat itself and many Championship clubs can look forward to some extra revenue from MU fans in a few years time Smile

How are your teams doing?

Blackpool have just lost three matches in a row ...as yet Paul Ince is still the manager but manager's jobs are more precarious that ever, just lately, as shown at Spurs (and West Brom) this last weekend gone...

As for Spurs...

Have to say I was a little surprised to hear of the departure of AVB yesterday but that is the way of things,I suppose. Glenn Hoddle is said to be interested either in a short-term or long-term capacity and is close to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy so...........

Theories abound over the reasons why Villas-Boas was sacked, as fans question chairman

http://www.theweek.co.uk/football/premier-league/56550/why-did-spurs-sack-avb-levy-and-adebayor-hold-key?_mout=1&utm_campaign=theweeksport_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter

No matter what the theories are the reality is he's gone!

I was all for giving AVB time but some of our results and performances have been woeful this season. Can't lose 6-0 to man city 3-0 west ham and 5-0 the weekend and be safe in your job esp with the money he spent

Yes sorry littepieces - my team seem to have caused the former Spurs manager a few problems but in the long run that result could do Spurs a big favour if they get a new coach who improves the team - if I was the Spurs chairman I'd be busting a gut to get Gus Hiddinck rapidly Smile

YES!!!!! Coventry City are coming home.

From Sept 5th Home Games will return to the Ricoh Arena :magic:

Sky have got in there and moved that game from Saturday to Friday night, which might reduce the crowd for our first home game back home. Well I hope we get a good crowd >15k

Having risen Phoenix-like from bankruptcy and avoided the drop last season (just - think it was a favourable goal difference that saved them) starting from -10 points!
This year my local team are currently 9th!

As a life long Liverpool fan I simply can't believe that the club is seriously considering signing Ballatelli

He was a problem at Man City and stayed less than a year at AC Milan so wouldn't those facts flag up some kind of warning to the Liverpool board

They might as well just have kept Suares Rolling Eyes

Actually we made 56 million pounds after deducting the price he was bought in for and I really can't see how Suarez isn't worth at least as much as Gareth Bale Rolling Eyes

Anyway perhaps best to get rid of him while he's still worth something considering his record Smile

I WAS THERE! Coventry's Sky Blues returned to the Ricoh Arena stadium, over 27,000 near full capacity for the game against Gillingham.

Grown men had tears in their eyes as the team ran out onto the pitch. First half was entertaining, some good passing from the lads and that led to a very slick goal which was to be the winning goal. One good moment in the second half was when we almost scored from the half-way line, the Gills goalie did well to stop that one

But the second half was really really dull stuff, and we just didn't know what to do when we reached the 18 yard box, and our goalie looks decidedly dodgy. I couldn't watch this stuff week-in-week-out so no season ticket lads, sorry.

I saw Blackpool back in September at Brighton and in fact they defended pretty well, mind you it was only against a team who can't score goals anyway. And the two could be meeting next season in League One!
