All will be revealed tonight at 9 in Broadchurch!

(They're building it up as another "Who Shot J.R.?" moment)

I would like to see Alec and Ellie back investigating another case...that's if Alec's heart lasts out Shocked

It's been a great series hasn't it, partly I think because it's gone on for longer than the usual 3 or 4 weeks that we get with good drama these days. I'll be sad to see it finish tonight.

Yes,it certainly seems to have captured the imagination of a lot of the viewing public ...I read the viewing figures for it are v.good.

Olivia Colman always puts in an excellent performance in anything she does but Pauline Quirke has more than matched her in this, imo ....pity we won't see her again unless she turns out to be the murderer! Shocked

An enthralling hour of TV drama .....despite knowing whodunit within about 10 minutes .......with some superb acting

I would love to have a framed pictire of the scene near the end where Alec and Ellie were sat on the bench with those magnificent cliffs in the background.....that was stunning camerawork.

And the good news is there is to be a 2nd series!

Creator and writer Chris Chibnall said: "The whole Broadchurch team has been delighted and properly gobsmacked by the response from ITV viewers. When I first talked to Peter Fincham and Laura Mackie, ITV’s Director of Drama about Broadchurch, I mentioned that if people liked it, there was another very different story we could tell afterwards. I'm really thrilled we're going to tell that story too."

Executive producer, Jane Featherstone for Kudos Film and Television commented: “It’s such a privilege for Kudos to be able to work with Chris and ITV to bring the next chapter of Broadchurch to our screens. And although we’re giving nothing away right now, I can tell you it’s going to keep on delivering surprises and scale.”

Actually, I thought that scene looked a bit fake, maybe too good a shot? Smile

It's been an excellent serial and the acting throughout has also been excellent I think. I hope that a new serial will live up to this one.

I enjoyed it too.
My enjoyment was much enhanced by accumulating the whole series on the Tivo and then watching it all in the last two weeks (minus adverts).
It just makes the whole thing easier to follow, and better to watch.
It must be soul destroying for directors to try to make tense and atmospheric dramas in the knowledge that at the point of transmission the whole thing will be blown apart by countless inane ads. Does anyone watch ads any more?

The only (minor) grumble (I am genetically programmed to grumble) was that after weeks of who-dunnitry, the detectives didn't actually solve the crime, although they were heading the right way...... guilty party simply cracked and confessed! This didn't happen in Sherlock's day.
Also, idea of allowing the victim's parent to visit the perpetrator in his cell (unaccompanied) was a bit of a silly moment.
Look forward to the next one!

PS. I knew it was him all along!

No, Tennant knew it was him because of the e-mails and set up the interview with the son to lure the real killer into confessing.

Yes, I just thought we were deprived of a potentially more dramatic denoument by him switching on the mobile phone and waiting in the shed for the police to arrive.

You'd never guess it from your avatar, uncle, you look so amiable..Wink

I agree about Mark being allowed in to see Joe.....would never ever happen....as you say, silly moment.... and the scene where Ellie stepped on the slug (Joe) ,crushing it, was symbolism that wasn't necessary but these are just minor cribs in what otherwise was an absorbing drama.

Didn't think I would but I've enjoyed the second series of Broadchurch just as much as the first.
We were left with a cliff-hanger last week ....did the jury find Joe Miller guilty or not guilty?

All will be revealed next Monday!

I felt the same when it first returned Becky, but I'm gripped now!

I really don't know what the outcome will be. Will there be another series I wonder?

Great news...I think...Ian...but does this mean that there will be no resolution to the Joe Miller trial?

David Tennant and Olivia Colman make a great team in this.

I've no idea what happens, but it's a bit ominous, isn't it? Worth noting that in the US version (made by the same team, also starring Tennant) it *was* a different killer.

Confused
That seems a bit of an odd thing to do.

Although Joe Miller was found not guilty I was oddly satisfied with the way the writer ended this series.

I wonder where the 3rd one will take us?
