So sad to hear the news that the voice of this legendary cricket commentator has been stilled.
He was as much loved over here in the UK as he was in his homeland... a true cricketing legend both on the field and in the commentating box.... he will be much missed.
R.I.P Ritchie. x
Home supporters pay tribute to Richie Benaud during his final commentary game in England, during the 2005 Ashes. |

Sad news, as you say a legend in commentating.
RIP

I got his autograph as a very young lad in the early 60s! Actually my father got it for me. |

Unfortunately my autograph book was lost several years ago. I still remember it so well, a small blue hardback with different coloured pages.
It also had David Jacobs and Alan Freeman's autographs. |

Oh that's a shame that it got lost Schiz, they were great autographs to have.

It is a shame, Helen.
Alan Freeman's signature was really large and vibrant I remember. My father worked in advertising in the early 60s and met quite a few 'celebs'. |

As Helen says that's a shame.
The Benaud family have declined the state funeral they were offered by the Australian PM saying Richie himself had wished for "something very, very quiet and very, very private"
