I'm afraid Blackpool's relegation has been anticipated for several months now! No surprise.
My team have been near the same relegation zone all season but are now safe! |

Yes it has,Schiz but until it became a mathematical impossibility for them to stay up I still (rather foolishly I know) had hope.
To think just 4 short years ago we were playing at Old Trafford etc.

A fascinating day at the top and bottom of The Championship, with so many late goals affecting promotion and relegation. |

At the bottom end of The Championship, I think I'm right in saying that if Rotherham hadn't been fined and had 3 points deducted, for fielding an ineligible player, that that end of the table would be already settled.
A professional football club should know just who they are putting on the pitch to play for them..did they just put this (ineligible) player on and hope nobody would notice?? |

Yes, Rotherham would have been safe from relegation now, as they would have had 45 points, not 42, and Millwall would have been 4 points behind with just one game left. Rotherham can still survive though as they have a game in hand over Millwall.
The points deduction was because they fielded a player whose loan period expired the day before the game (against Brighton). A simple mistake? Their manager is (allegedly) a nasty piece of work who probably knew the facts and thought he'd get away with it. The deduction is justified. |

Well Rotherham have secured another year in the Championship whilst Wigan and Millwall drop down with BlackpooI. Preston,Blackpool's bitter rivals, could be swapping places with us if they secure a win this coming Sunday. If they do it will be their turn to have a good laugh at our expense.
Wigan's 23 yr old chairman David Sharpe (grandson of Dave Whelan) says they will "bounce back" Well he would say that wouldn't he?
Funny goings on at Bloomfield Road (off the field this time) with a statue of Stan Mortensen mysteriously disappearing. There is due to be a demonstration there on Saturday against the way the Oyston family run the club and the statue was to be a focal point of it.

O/H decided we wouldn't go up for the match, it's that bad. Mind it is our wedding anniversary so I'm hoping that had a little to do with it!

Congratulations to Newcastle and their fans ( and that includes,Helen and Fog on the Tyne of course. ) but commiserations to Hull and their supporters. I heard it reported that the relieved cheers of the fans were soon replaced by chants of "Ashley out" at the end of the match at St James' Park.
Kevin Keegan spoke very passionately about Newcastle and Mike Ashley on 5 Live this morning.
An astonishing result at the Britannia Stadium but at least Stevie G scored in his last match ...small consolation really. Good to see that Frank Lampard also scored in his last match. |

Congratulations to Norwich City today on one of the most complete performances I have ever witnessed since the play offs began
Goodness only knows how Middlesborough finished 4th in the Championship this season
I'm happy because as a Liverpool fan certain people at Norwich did me many great favours in the seventies and eighties supplying me with tickets for many big Wembley finals involving my club free of charge and for that reason I'll always have a soft spot for what is a very friendly and well run club _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Mixed emotions for the Seagulls, losing out on promotion to the Premiership on goal difference by just two goals! Having two players sent off in the last two games didn't help. Still, the play offs are a bonus I suppose, after last season's near relegation.
I predict they will beat Sheffield Wednesday in the semis on Friday/Monday but lose to Derby/Hull in the final. Bloody play offs. |

Sky's expert from Spain thinks there's a chance he'll stay and I hear he's well connected.
But Mr Shearer doesn't think it'll happen. _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

I've bet a tenner on Benitez being the next Everton Manager which I placed before last night's results
He still lives in Liverpool and his defensive style of management would be exactly what Everton need - the odds were 14/1 but I reckon I might just stand a chance of pocketing a few quid
Sad situation for Newcastle though _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I wondered that Ruddles but could he go to Everton having been at Liverpool a few years ago?

Many say not but at the end of the day Helen the new investor who's putting in the big money will do what he thinks is best irrespective of what the fans may think and I reckon Benitez is in with a reasonable chance
Incidentally I noted that in the statement issued by Mike Ashley today he made no mention of Benitez at all which strongly suggests to me that he will definitely move on _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Thanks! Not much luck at the moment, with four players getting injured in that game so playing with ten men for three games in a row.
Looks like Sheff Wed v Hull in the final. |

A relegated team...down to ten men ....beat the (as was) second place team in the Premiership..
A rubbish end,all round,to my football season.
Good that all is well at Old Trafford and nobody was hurt. |
