Sad to learn of the death of Ben E King aged 76.
Really loved There Goes My First Love as well as Stand By Me.
RIP

I'll put the one I posted here and delete my post..
Sad news today from the world of music, that Ben E King has died aged 76.
The song he will always be remembered for is Stand By Me of course.
He did so many terrific songs...Save The Last Dance For Me is one of my all time favourites....he had a great voice.
Something I think of when I hear Stand By Me is the memory of my son asking me to record the film Stand By Me, which I duly did. The thing was before he got a chance to watch it I inadvertently recorded over it .... I wasn't very popular for quite a while after that...can't remember what I taped over it with....bet my son could.

Incredible to think that Stand By Me was recorded in 1961, a song well ahead of its time. And one with the most memorable of intros..doo doo doo tch tch. Doo doo doo tch tch... |
