Very often the House of Commons is a bear pit of shouting and downright bad behaviour but just now I have been listening to many members of this place paying heartfelt tributes,in most eloquent terms,to Charles Kennedy who sadly died yesterday.

Pity that some of them can't act in this way more often and not just in these tragic circumstances.

I believe his 10 year old son,Donald, is in the gallery listening to the tributes... I hope he draws much comfort from what he is hearing and it doesn't distress him too much.

R.I.P. to a man I always admired.

I liked him too. I heard Jeremy Vine say yesterday that he had never heard him say a bad word about anyone, and he knew him from his Parliamentary correspondent days.

I remember him sitting in for Jimmy Young at least one stint when JY was on holidays, must have been late 80s or early 90s.

RIP
