Pity Liam (Tarquin) Broady wasn't able to progress any further today but Heather Watson played a great match, this afternoon, to overcome Daniela H in straight sets to go through to the next round. Well done her!

I have only caught a little of the 'new' Wimbledon 2Day coverage and hated it. I hope we see the return of the old format and quick!

A BBC Spokesperson said: “We acknowledge that new formats can take some time to bed in with audiences, but we’re very pleased with the show and look forward to seeing it grow over the Championship.”

Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad

They may be pleased with it but I don't think that sentiment is being echoed amongst many tennis enthusiasts.

Considering how often everyone attacks them, the BBC never make things easy for themselves and some acknowledgement of mistakes occasionally would be nice!

I agree the new 2day at Wimbledon is just awful!

Really enjoyed Heather Watson's match this afternoon as well. She'll have a tough one on Friday agains Serena Williams.

I hope when Heather looks back on her match with Serena she views it with great pride....she certainly should.
I don't think there was one person who thought she would come as near as she did to victory. It was a fantastic day for British tennis and I do so hope that this is the platform for her to go on to bigger and better things

I look forward to seeing Dustin Brown again tomorrow....he was sensational in his win over Nadal.

I totally agree Becky, she played a wonderful match. I remember first watching her when she was about 17 and thought then she was a good player.

Don't you think she has a lovely voice as well? Not a trace of an Americal accent which would have been easy considering all the time she has spent there training.

I do,Helen. Smile She's lovely all round.

Did you see this delightful clip, the BBC showed yesterday, from when she was just a youngster? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/33388611

Dustin Brown is currently 2 sets to love down against Viktor Troicki.

It has been a great first week and I have been sofa-bound for hours each day Smile.

Brown's defeat of Nadal was spectacular, Cilic and Raonic battling in fading light with several shots of Ivanisevic there to support Cilic, Heather gave Serena a terrific fight, James Ward has been wonderful and although he lost today he is now in the top 100, Murray is in very good form so next week looks very promising.

I saw that clip of Heather aged 12, Becky, and she will indeed be a role model for young players who will look up to her just as she looked up to Serena and Sharapova.

It really has been a great week Eileen, I've been lucky to have just lazed in front of the TV at leas for a couple of days where it was cooler indoors than out!

I saw the clip of Heather too Becky and she was so sweet. A shame that she lost both her doubles matches today Sad .

Blimey, I didn't foresee such a quick turnaround.. Shocked (it's very welcome though)

Fronm the Radio Times...

Victory for viewers as BBC makes changes to Wimbledon 2Day format

Following the outcry over the revamped highlights package among RadioTimes.com readers, the programme will move to a new set above Centre Court, banishing the studio audience and removing some of the other gimmickry

Wimbledon fans have struck a blow for viewer power after the BBC revealed that it is moving the set of its revamped highlights programme Wimbledon 2Day and will be banishing the live audience element for the second week of the tournament.
The Corporation has confirmed that from Monday night the show will move to a new venue overlooking Centre Court and that there will be no members of the public looking on.

Venus and Serena are on court at the moment ..I would like to see Venus win,not because I don't like Serena but Venus must be seen as an underdog for this match and we all love an underdog, don't we! Smile

Hooray for viewer power Becky, but it really was awful!

I'd like Venus to win too.

How on earth it got past the planning stage is beyond me,Helen.

It was car crash TV.

I wonder if Clare will mention anything about it tonight or carry on as if nothing has happened?

It will be interesting to see Becky.

H

PS Talking of car crash TV, I think there will be some car crash radio tonight at 8 o'clock on R2 with Mary Portas doing Jo Whiley's slot........... Rolling Eyes

Mary Portas!?!

That just sounds totally wrong,Helen, but looking at the Radio 2 website it says that she is a self confessed music fan so perhaps I'm being a tad harsh. I'm sure when Radio 2 were looking round for someone to step in for Jo,Mary's love of music stood her in good stead and having had a long and successful career in retail probably clinched it!

Clare glossed over the move as if it had always been planned!

The 2Day programme was presumably supposed to be like the late-night show Balding did at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games - but that overlooked there had already been a decent highlights show earlier on.

As for Mary Portas, even Sara Cox seemed surprised and puzzled when she read the schedule out this morning. Considering Portas is a prize hypocrite with all the personality of a window I didn't bother tuning in.

The TV show was much better I thought last night.

I didn't bother to tune in to Mary Portas either Ian!

What a great match today between Wawrinka and Gasquet. I like both players but was thrilled with Gasquet's win in the fifth set.

The commentator kept referring to a spectator called Malcolm something who was sitting next to the lovely Masour Bahrami. I have no idea who he was. Does anyone here know? He is obviously famous for something.

I only saw the highlights Eileen but it looke to have been a great match.

I've no idea who Malcolm was though.

I misheard the name as Malcolm! It was Nicolas Anelka who apparently is something to do with football. I am NOT embarrassed at not knowing Cool

Loved watching Gasquet today but Djokovic was too strong. John McEnroe made a nice comment after that match: "Richard Gasquet, be proud young man" Smile

Good try from Murray but Federer was sublime today. Hope he wins on Sunday.

I love John McEnroe,Eileen.Very Happy

I was torn between the Women's final and the cricket this afternoon Bad scheduling as far as I'm concerned.Twisted Evil Serena was serving for the match and England were 151 for 6 (or something like that) Serena's win never looked in doubt except for the blip in the second set. What a delightful young woman Gabine is and we'll no doubt be seeing more of her in years to come.Well done to Serena though who was very gracious in her victory.

As for Andy and his loss,Roger was just supreme and to think I thought his best days were behind him.....wrong!!!

No joy for Jamie Murray and his partner John Peers in the men's doubles final. I remember when Jamie won the mixed double's final ...what a lovely occasion that was.

Lovely to see Martina Hingis win the women's doubles final with her partner,Sania Mizra.

I just wish they would stop showing us 'celebs' in the crowd and stick to the tennis.

I was sorry that Federer didn't win yesterday but I enjoyed the finals on Saturday and yesterday.

Andy Roddick seems to be the latest addition to the commentary team, he's been everywhere! Enjoyed him but maybe he talks a bit too much........???

If there is to be celebrity spotting it should at least be kept to the end of games/sets. At deuce in one of the games,in the men's final yesterday, Andrew Castle was busily pointing out Bradley Cooper.

I think Andy is an an excellent addition.Helen ..I was very impressed with his knowledge. Hope he's back next year.
I had no favourite between Djokovic and Federer so could watch the match and just enjoy without too much angst.
Some wit in the crowd had a sign saying "At least we have one Djok in the final" Very Happy

I was rooting for Federer but it was not to be. I do love his style of play but Djokovic was clearly too strong on the day.

I enjoyed seeing Martina Hingis doing so well. Fancy winning two titles on consecutive days at the age of 34! What a superb doubles player she is.

I too enjoyed Andy Roddick's input but had to concentrate hard as he talks at top speed.

The Davis Cup at the weekend - looking forward to Team GB doing well but also will enjoy seeing Richard Gasquet in action again.

Lovely to watch the Murray boys playing together in the doubles..they are very near the winning post as I type! Very Happy

What a fantastic weekend of tennis. My goodness, didn't Andy work hard! No wonder he broke down in tears after beating Gilles Simon in the singles yesterday … he must be worn out after matches on all three days and is well-deserving of his holiday.

It's the Ozzies next in September and Team GB is now favourite to win the Davis Cup Smile

He did just now,Eileen, beating Novak Djokovic 2 sets to 1 in the Rogers Cup final in Montreal. Leif Shiras said beforehand he would win but Greg Rusedski gave him little chance.
First time he has beaten Novak since Wimbledon. Great match.

An extraordinary thing happened at one point. Andy was thinking of questioning a line call but the umpire more or less said don't bother it was out ...Hawkeye showed it wasn't!. Luckily he went on to win that game.
