I have always been a fan of the BBC but in the last few years I feel their standards are dropping.

I haven't watched Eastenders for years so was gobsmacked to read this headline in The Independent regarding the programme..

"EastEnders bosses defend gay sex scene in funeral parlour as 'implied and not explicit' following Ofcom complaints
Ben Mitchell and Paul Coker stripped down to their boxers by a dead body"

I honestly thought,at first, that it was a (sick) joke but no..

This is not what I think should be on the nation's broadcaster at that time of the day ...and I would feel the same if it was heterosexual sex that was implied....that it was gay sex makes not one jot of difference to how I think about it.

Bad taste doesn't,for me, begin to cover it.

If things are to be shaken up at the BBC Eastenders,by the sound of it, would be a good place to start.

I watched EastEnders for about 3 years over a decade ago when some of the storylines were quite interesting. This latest episode sounds pretty sickening to me and and well beyond the boundaries of acceptable scenes in a popular soap probably watched by children.

The production team's defence that the sexual encounter was 'implied and not explicit' is pathetic nonsense. Where else was that scene to lead? From the photo in the Independent it looked horribly like necrophilia but I could be mistaken and I am not going to iPlayer it to check Twisted Evil

EastEnders is dying now, like all soaps. They're throwing enough sh*t at the wall to see what sticks and keeps audiences and it did briefly work on the ratings but they're slumping again.

It's at least 15 years since I last watched Eastenders and by the sound of things I haven't missed much!

Everything is for ratings which is something that needs to change.

What do you expect when our Prime Minister is supporting the concept of so called 'gay marriage' Rolling Eyes

Once you ascend this slippery slope you give out the message that nothing is off bounds so is it really surprising that we end up with s--t like this Evil or Very Mad

I've never watched East Enders either but must admit, from trailers and excerpts I've seen, that the acting is pretty good.

However, I've never liked the story lines or the people: ugly, humourless, charmless, and the above confirms my opinion. I suppose it's all about the BBC pandering to minorities.

With all due respect Ian it isn't fine - not least because its existence discriminates against the majority of the population who are hetrosexual

How can it be right that gay people have the choice of having either a 'marriage' or a civil partnership whereas we hetrosexuals have only marriage available to us?

It simply illustrates the obsession of Cameron and others in pandering to minorities which is why although I have voted Conservative all my life I will never do so while he is Prime Minister Mad

The BBC may have it's faults, may need some things improving, but I believe it should remain free of government (of any creed or colour) interference and be free to criticise any government of any persuasion, or not be just a mouthpiece of any other vested interests.
