Text messages reminding people not to overstay their visas are part of a new drive by the government to clamp down on illegal migrants.

Seems like a waste of time and money to me - it's just giving a warning to those who wish to stay, that they better hurry up and find somewhere to lay low once their visa does expire.
There certainly doesn't appear to be a coherent policy regarding asylum seekers and illegal immigrants in this country - just endless failures to address the problem of increasing numbers, where to house them, how to process them quickly and how to return them if they fail.
