I've managed to get tickets to John Wilson conducting some Copland pieces with the BBC Philarmonic next week. Not the same as the Proms stuff, but should be good.

I thought it was absolutely lovely, Helen! The sound was much better than last year though I couldn't always hear Louise Dearman's lyrics. Matt Ford was terrific and I DID enjoy him going all Georges Guetary during "'S Wonderful" Very Happy

It was also very good to hear some lesser-known Gershwin songs. Altogether a great evening's entertainment and I am looking forward to the TV transmission.

Helen, it seems that I was mistaken about the Albert Hall concert being recorded, although I am sure that I saw a sign on the corridor wall advising us that it was being recorded for TV.

Perhaps they are holding on to it for a later date Eileen. We can but hope!

Is it on Sky Arts? They show quite a few John Wilson Albert Hall concerts (I think there's one on this week).

I think it will be Ian, they recorded the final of the 2014 concert tour and it went out over the Christmas period. Cole Porter was the title. This year's was Gershwin if you're checking the listings.

So, I very much enjoyed the Copland concert at MediaCity with the BBC Philharmonic. I didn't know the pieces very well but it was a great experience.

Only marred slightly by the bloke behind us rustling, sighing, and using his phone throughout. I'm pretty sure this was John Wilson's dad!

Helen, last night on Clare Teal's show I heard Matt Ford and Louise Dearman sing "Treat Me Rough" followed by audience applause and it was from a newly-released CD of the Albert Hall concert I was at!

So I was sort of right when I said I'd seen a poster about it being recorded that night except it was sound only.

I have ordered the CD Smile.

I saw some blurb about a new 'live' CD Eileen and I did wonder if it was from your concert. A personal souvenir for you! I'm going to try and get it on Spotify to listen to.

PS This year's Prom is on Saturday 13th August for TV transmission at a later date!

He has indeed Eileen. I didn't really like last year's though so I hope this year's will be more to my taste. You can't please everyone all the time though!
