Similar to the C2C pop up last month this latest one on the 50s begins Thursday April 14th.

Must admit I'd heard the trailer but somehow thought it was a series of late night shows rather than 4 days. I wasn't paying full attention I must admit though!

Might be worth a listen and I'm assuming it will be on iPlayer so you can dip in and out later on.

Heard Elaine Paige mention it yesterday and Bill Kenwright has a show on it. Smile

Bumping this up as it's on now.

Am really enjoying singing along to the songs my Mum used to sing! It's on the DAB but I think it's only in mono (?) Huey Morgan is presenting at the moment.

Enjoy as they say across the pond!

I've been away for a couple of days but caught some of the programmes before I went on Thursday. I thoroughly enjoyed Richard Hawley's programme and the one that Russell Davies presented. I heard some of the Huey Morgan but not all so hopefully will have time in the next couple of weeks to listen back to that one as well as most of the others.

There's just one I definitely won't be catching up with ....a 7 year old telling me about Buddy Holly...no thanks. I listened, out of curiosity, for a few minutes before turning off.

Me neither Becky!

I enjoyed Huey Morgan's number 1s and also Len Goodman On Air I think it was called but I've not listened to his second show yet.

I actually downloaded (first time) a couple of shows to my Hudl tablet as we had a long car journey on Saturday. The Hudl (Tesco's cheapy android tablet) can't get internet unless you connect to your own at home or someone elses wifi, so none in the car. We were stationary on the motorway for almost 3 hours so got out the Hudl and the downloads were a godsend!

There are a few I'll listen to later on too.

I'm listening to his other one now.

I suppose there's a nostalgia value in re-living the fifties, but I can't say the music really does much for me.

Now, the Sixties were another matter. An astonishing decade - like thirty years of musical evolution crammed into ten!

I wonder if they will do a 'pop up' station for each decade? It would be great for the 60s!

I didn't really listen to the 'documentary' type shows but enjoyed hearing the music I'd heard in the background on my parents' radio as a child. It's amazing what sticks in your brain isn't it!

Just listening to Suzi Quatro's show featuring female singers from the 50s. Good tracks and worth a listen.

Here's the link as it's not so easy to find since they revamped the Radio 2 website.
