Apparently the 1980's sitcom is coming back for a one-off special.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6431533.stm

The show itself lasted for longer than the war: 10 years.

I used to love this show despite it being completely daft.

Yep, Gruber and his "little tank", plus Macaroni and his brilliant line when greeting Gruber for the first time: "What-a-mistake-a-da-make!" Very Happy

Since I liked watching "Secret Army" all those years ago, I wasn't sure whether to like or hate "Allo! Allo!", but ended up loving the first series at least. "Arrgh! Flashing knobs!" Laughing

Yes ernie I used to like this show, the caricature of the British, French & Germans was both completely silly & brilliant, at the same time, IMHO.

The daft premise of English actors pretending to be French by putting on a French accent, who in turn couldn't be understood by the Oxsbridge English accented airmen must have seemed completely stupid but it somehow worked. I loved how Michelle would translate from English in a French accent to English in an upper class twit accent.

Great program, totally daft but I loved it. I saw the stage show with just about the whole tv cast taking part including Gorden Kaye and Vicky Michelle, it was so funny that the laughing actually hurt after a while Laughing

I'm not sure about the new episode though as some of the orginal cast have sadly passed away among them Carmen Silvera who played Edith.
Also wasn't there a 'proper' ending? I'm sure there was.
I would hate for this to turn into another Only Fools and horses.

There was a proper ending with the war coming to an end and everything being resolved. Herr Flick was tried at Nuremberg. Laughing

I'd settle for the Beeb showing all the originals again. The PC Scheduling Police have locked them away for too long!

I think they are showing Keeping up appearances on Sundays at the moment but they have been known to put Allo Allo on at that time quite often so it's worth keeping an eye out for it.

Yes, the repeats are currently one of the top-rated shows on BBC1 on Sunday with over 2 million viewers, the recent BBC2 evening repeats also did well and the Comedy Connections was well-received - a revival was almost inevitable.

I've a feeling this "reunion" will be more along the lines of those Swap Shop and Goodies reunions rather than an actual new episode.

Yes, that was rather good. Both myself and Mr. S like to snuggle up on the sofa and watch those.
