Although I've enjoyed Richard Madeley presenting the Sunday morning show I also enjoy Michael Ball's programme on Sunday evenings so the change is OK with me, I have liked the range of music Michael has played on his show. I'm not so sure about the new presenter for the evening show though Rolling Eyes

Of course none of them can fill the shoes of Terry.

Why can't we enjoy listening to a decent music presenter with knowledge of the subject instead of publicity seeking celebrities whose only ability appears to be the self indulgent art of self congratulation Evil or Very Mad

Mostly I prefer Richard to Michael in the Sunday morning slot, it sort of sounds a wee bit like Parkinson with the news etc. That said I don't listen that much these days.

Not sure about Claudia on a Sunday night either.

Totally agree Helen. I never really cared for Madeley but I've enjoyed his stint. I didn't like Michael Ball in that slot when he did it before but he seemed a perfect fit for Sunday evenings. Have I got this right? Winkleman is taking over from Michael? Please no, not that jabbering idiot. She made the Arts Show impossible to listen to and I can't think of anyone less suitable for a Sunday evening.

Oh well, even less Radio 2 for me to listen to.

I'm listening a lot less too.

I think it's a shame that Michael Ball is moving slots, he's much better suited to the evenings and it will be 2 'luvvies' in a row with EP following on. Rolling Eyes

I listed to Ms Lauper's programme on Sunday it certainly did seem to be dominated by mid 1980s stuff. That's all right up to a point but it does seem that Sunday is gradually becoming a no-go area for music of the Tin Pan Alley or Great America songbook era.

And she does have quite a dull narrative voice. Thank goodness she's only there for a couple of weeks.

I don't see the attraction of Cyndi Lauper - they had her all over the Olivier Awards the other week as if she was the Second Coming, just because she's written a middling new musical.

I was just thinking the same thing Ian. I haven't followed his series of the Voice but saw part of the final and they had her on with Boy George's finalist as well. Talk about saturation.................

To me she's a fairly mediocre performer who hung a career on a couple of reasonably decent chart tracks but it seems to me that if your face fits you get a total rebirth of your career which seems to apply to her along with a few others - yet there are lots of great artists whose music never sees the light of day on R2 or anywhere else Sad

I didn't hear her show last week but have listened to the first hour and she certainly has an eclectic taste and I'll give credit where it's due as it's been good listening.

Didn't hear Michael at all this morning.

Michael's new show is very similar to his old show - just in a different time slot. The problem with that is that it is "too nice" and a bit "gushy" There is no paper review and no TV or film review, which I always liked in Madeley's morning show (and indeed, when Parkinson used to have this slot). At this time of the day on a Sunday I like a little comment on topical matters.

By evening time, I like something a bit more relaxing to accompany my glass (or three) of merlot.

Having said that. Cindy Lauper's voice was so soporific that I nearly fell asleep into my glass. The music might have been varied but her monotone voice certainly wasn't.

I am beginning to find MB's morning show a bit on the bland side and becoming far too "tabloidy" in style. Indeed, the whole Sunday content has become very "safe".

Even a bit of light classical music might liven it up.

The giggling idiot has always been bland. I was amazed and pleasantly surprised though when he played Tina Turner's excellent Steamy Windows today (though it probably wasn't him who chose it).

I have no problems whatsoever with Michael Ball. I just think his style is best suited to the evening - not the morning.

And get rid of that quiz - pleeeze.
