I see that Clare Teal has been moved from 9pm to earlier at 7pm and that CW will now occupy the 9pm slot.
I wonder why that has been done? Which time slot would be deemed the more desirable? What sort of programme is likely from CW? I only know her from Strictly (which I don't watch).
I will listen to both but I am anxious. Clare at 9pm suited me. |

I think that it has something to do with Claudia Winkleman's Strictly Come Dancing commitments. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Thanks LEE, I will keep an ear open for more info and hope that (a) Clare doesn't lose too many musos who listen on the way home from gigs and (b) that she gains some new listeners who didn't realise that big band music was so enjoyable. |

You were right LEE! Clare said the change round is for just a few weeks during Claudia's Strictly stuff so I am relieved about that.
Claudia said the changed times will be until after Christmas. I've listened to her programme tonight but found only the very occasional track to really enjoy so probably won't bother in future.

It will be to do with Strictly which I've never watched so I'm not happy with the change at all. Have just tweeted R2 and await a response.
Sunday evening listening spoiled now for me. Everyone knows Claudia is recorded so why they can't have it on at 7 beats me.............
Don't dislike Clare Teal but prefer Claudia so not happy.
As Paul Donovan said in Sunday Times things are not rosy at R2 at the moment. Vanessa has to do Monday JV because he does Crimewatch on the same night. It makes radio appear a very poor second to TV. These presenters should make their minds up which they want to do as they can't do both and do it properly!

It is an odd move as Strictly is recorded on a Saturday night so it's not like Claudia has anywhere else to be on a Sunday.
I thought the show itself was OK though - good mix of old and new and different styles.

But that's what they hired her for! |

Yes but Jeremy wasn't supposed to only do 4 days every week. I never listen on Mondays as I can't stand her.
He is also frequently away for Eggheads but I don't mind that, it's when it's a different presenter for just one of the 5 days that the show runs. It begs the question which is more important TV or radio?
I didn't listen to Clare as I didn't fancy that kind of music at 7pm (I rarely listen to her show anyway) and only caught last 10 minutes of Claudia as I was watching TV by then.
Both are cases of BBC1 disrupting the Radio 2 schedule which I don't think has happened in the past and certainly should not be happening at all IMHO except on a rare occasion.

I'd be interested to hear what they say Helen and I totally agree with you. Radio 2 is increasingly seen as the poor relation. Mind you, this isn't anything new, I remember Elaine Paige buggering off to appear in a musical some years ago and Demot was always vanishing to do Britain's Got Strictly No Celebrity X Factor, or whatever it was called. And why does Norton dissappear for six weeks in the summer? (Not that I'm complaining)
I loathe nostalgia but sometimes I wish we could go back to the days when we had proper radio broadcasters, insead of celebrities with time on their hands _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

I'm thinking of contacting Feedback after reading a tweet about having to log in to access iPlayer and their wanting our reaction.

Sunday evenings at 9pm are a bit complicated. I listen to Radio 2 and record "Victoria" which I watch on Mondays and whizz through the interminable ads then also watch "Poldark" on iPlayer. OH watches "Poldark" live and views "Victoria" on Mondays usually when I do. |

Well, the Crimewatch pilot run has ended now (it wasn't even on last night) so maybe they'll have different arrangements if it becomes an actual series. Although ratings have been very poor.

Same reason Rossy used to - because Radio have given their presenters more holidays lately instead of pay rises. Norton (like Rossy) takes his in one go over summer, while the likes of Bruce, Mayo etc break them up throughout the year. |
