Sad to hear that Dave Cash died suddenly on Friday 21st Oct. He was apparently still broadcasting last weekend on BBC Radio Kent.
I think I first heard him on the old Light Programme's Midday Spin and if my memory serves me right he was on air when the news came through that Robert Kennedy had died.
Johnnie Walker must be pre recorded today as I'm sure he would have mentioned something by now.
I've great memories of his part in the Pirate Radio broadcasts some years ago.
RIP

A really sad loss for all of us who remember the sixties when - as Helen says- he was a regular presence on what was great radio output in that great era
I don't recall him being on pirate radio although I'm sure he was but I do remember him on Midday Spin which was actually a Radio One Show although it might well have previously existed on the old Light Programme
My strongest memory of him was when he took over the Radio One early afternoon show from the original presenter Pete Brady before the days of Wogan - I have vivid memories of listening to him in that slot when as a child I was quite seriously ill and having to stay in bed for almost a month - I was personally very sad when he got booted out of that show in order to make way for Wogan
Really sad that all these 'greats' of the sixties are regularly passing on and Dave Cash is certainly no exception - may he rest in peace _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Of course it was Radio 1 by then (1968) Ruddles! My senior moment, as Wogan would say.
I don't remember him from Pirate days either, but reception was dire in Newcastle for most of the time!

I can vaguely remember his tv programme the Dave Cash Radio Programme which I think was on afternoon ITV in the 70s. _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

Weren't some programmes broadcast on both stations in the early years of Radio 1 & 2? _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Indeed they were - and I think Midday Spin might have been one of them _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
