Just heard the sad news that Bobby Vee has died age 73.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-37756170

I knew he had alzheimers as Bill Kenwright mentioned it several times on his shows and was a friend of his.

I loved so many of his songs and saw him twice 2000 and 02 in Manchester and he was superb. Liza T played Take Good Care Of My Baby Saturday night as we were on a long car journey and the thought went through my mind 'is he still alive?'

RIP

H

I wonder if this year is going to end as it began. With the death of several people I've grown up watching & listening to on TV & radio. I hope not.

Just hope they take good care of him in the spirit world - yet another stalwart of the fifties/sixties sadly gone Sad

I didn't like his songs at the time (early 60s) but have to admit that Rubber Ball is fabulous now!

I must only have been about 8 or 9 when Rubber Ball was out, but my 'best friend' of the same age had an older sister who had the record and it was 'on repeat' for hours when I was at their house across the road! The other side 'Everyday' was played almost as much and it was only years later that I came to realise it was a Buddy Holly song. Funny how the memories remain eh!

I was so very sad to hear this news yesterday.

Loved his songs,loved his voice.

The Night Has A Thousand Eyes is very special in a family sense for me.

R.I.P Bobby.
