Wasn't sure where to put this so maybe Ian could move it if he feels like it.

Anyway I think the topic cropped up in another thread a few weeks ago and it set me thinking. I know some of us record shows either on computer or elsewhere. I was thinking maybe we could set up a 'store' of them and we could share them over the web with something like Media Fire.

Is anyone interested? It'll be an ongoing thing but with the state of the station I'm thinking there will be precious little worth listening to in years to come.

Sounds a good idea,Helen...if I could ever get the hang of Media Fire. Smile

In the meantime..

Here are a couple of links where some (loads actually) of Mark Lamarr's Radio 2 programmes ...God's Eternal Jukebox and Shake, Rattle and Roll...can be accessed...

https://www.mixcloud.com/godseternaljukebox/

http://goej.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/...from%20Mark?updated-max=2011-02-27T12:20:00Z&max-results=20&start=20&by-date=false

I listened to one the other day...was good to hear his voice and his choice of music again.

That's a very good idea Helen

The quality of broadcasting on the station seems to deteriorate even on a weekly basis so although we might think a lot is bad right now it could get even worse Shocked

Becky I've not used Media Fire in a while but still have an icon on my laptop.

From what I recall it wasn't hard. I used it to transfer a huge file of pictures from one laptop to another which for some reason wouldn't go any other way.

I'll have a look at it again when I've some time, and we can use another program if anyone has other suggestions.

I suppose it's more that we find some old shows and maybe some recent speciality shows that are worth keeping. I've a load so I guess it's more that we sort what we have and list them somewhere so that we can dip in when we want to.

Ages ago I taped on cassette (as is my wont Embarassed) some Wake Up To Wogan shows in the good old days with Dr Wally, Boggy, Deadly and Fran. I faded out all the music but kept the banter.

I'm up for this. I have Tel's last show, the last three Melodies For You, with Titch...and a few others.

No idea how to upload them, but I'm sure H will educate me. If not Mediafire, then Zippyshare appears to be a good one.

I stumbled across this site last night. It'll take some navigating, but there's so many podcasts and other good stuffstuff on there, including snippets of Wogan, Ray Moore, etc - uploaded by Andy Walmsey, who used to be on here, didn't he?

Yes, he does go on a bit. With a posher voice, too. I have to say, I was more interested in the records played, then anything else.

He did crack me up once, when he used to have a BBC Radio London afternoon show, in the early 80's. He used to have half an hour, playing oldies. One day, he played this, over and over, for the entire 30 minutes.

Was that during his much publicised divorce?

No, Ian. This would have been a good three or four years after that meltdown. This was him being "funny" in the guise of narcissism, I suppose you could say. Made me laugh, anyway!

It did occur, when I posted it, that people might think that.

Ah, ta. I only really know of Blackburn's life thanks to Paul Whitehouse's Smashey and Nicey spoof. I used the read the "Arnold The Dog" comic strip in Look-In but have no idea what it was based on.

Yes he does, H. This link has stuff that I can't wait to hear, including Stuart Henry, Rosko, DLT, Kenny...many more besides. I've started with the one at the top - An hour and a half of Tom Edwards Show on Radio Caroline in August '67. It's fascinating and joyous to hear a Pirate programme after all these years!

Enjoy!

If the first four and a half minutes of the DLT 1966 Radio Caroline Xmas Show are anything to go by, then the whole two hours will be quite something!
