I liked Roger Moore so was sad to hear of his passing today. He seemed a lovely man with a lovely sense of humour.
I first remember seeing him in film with Carroll Baker, many moons ago.
Sir Roger's family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after "a short but brave battle with cancer".The statement, from his children, read: "Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people."
"With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated"

RIP Roger. |

Ivanhoe is my earliest memory of the Rog. He used to live just up the road from here, when he was married to Dot Squires. For some starnge reasson, he seemed to prefer Switzerland, in later life.
I've watched more of his Bond films that any others, chiefly beacuse I loved his sense of humour. As witnessed by this...

And then there's The Saint and The Persuaders. And that name of his... _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

His autobiography "My Word Is My Bond" is excellent. Full of self deprecating humour and wonderfully gossipy. My niece bought me "Bond on Bond" as a Christmas present which she queued in her lunch hour to get him to sign it. I've never seen anyone fidget as much during Christmas dinner.
A few years ago we went to a concert based on the works of Jeremy Lloyd. Anyone remember Captain Beaky?. It featured Joanna Lumley, Alan Titchmarsh, Hugh Bonneville and, as it was in aid of UNICEF, Sir Roger. He came on to read a poem about grasshoppers with a lovely lady on each arm. At the end the two ladies ripped away his trousers, in the manner pf Bucks Fizz. The sight of James Bond resplendent in dinner jacket, black tie and the most lurid, eyeball-searing pair of bright green tights was worth the ticket on its own _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

That book sounds great, too. There's another one - Last Man Standing, in the same vein. I wouldn't mind reading both! _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

It's on my Christmas list too, though the title is rather poignant now _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

I heard the tail end of an article on Radio 4 and couldn't understand what they were talking about. Thanks Raver _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |
