Is there ANY radio outlet on the internet for light classical and/or operetta music ANYWHERE?

Sunday night is just not the same without this type of music.

And could DJs be given a personality test before they are hired?

Russell Davies did a very good 6-part series earlier this year and at the end of the final programme he said another series was being planned. I always loved and was interested in the music he played over the years. He was wasted on those interview programmes he did for a while.

I would be happy to hear Alan Titchmarsh and the great mix of tracks he used to play. You never knew what was coming next - operetta, jazz, music hall, comedy song, pre-60s pop …

Friday Night is Music Night occasionally has some lovely editions.

I would just love the old Sunday mix that we used to get back again.

I actually discovered a couple of years ago RTE Radio Lyric FM as a partial substitute for what we used to get on Sundays on Radio 2. What strikes me as odd is that if the national radio station of a relatively small country like Ireland can find space for such a service, why on earth can't the BBC which has a much bigger audience?

I know Michael Ball is not everyone's cup of tea but the music variety on his Sunday evening show was light years ahead of the bland rubbish that Ore plays.
I used to love listening to Michael's show but now it's just the same old Coldplay, Take That nothingness every week.

Indeed.

Today's Michael Ball hasn't been too bad as he's in Christmas Mode. I won't be listening to Ore tonight, as usual.

Last week I rigged up my lap top and listened to Friday Night is Music Night on the iPlayer. Not a bad substitute for what used to be "normal" Sunday night music on Radio 2.

Yes Michael Ball was really good today.

Only 2 more weeks of Ore.

Apparently he won "Something called "Strictly" - so that's where the sudden urge to promote him beyond his abilities has come from.

I don't watch Saturday night TV, so not a problem apart from the endless trails that will no doubt appear. It may keep him off the radio for a while or we can but hope.....

I think he must have on file sensitive information about important people at the BBC.

Maybe the BBC see him as a Terry Wogan for the modern age -

but minus the charm
and the humour
and the spontaneity
and the genuine interest in other people
and the ability to speak English properly

Move over, Ore.....the new kid on the block has arrived.

Joe McFadden ...who? some might ask...(I've liked him since he appeared in The Crow Road) won Strictly last night so expect to see/hear a lot more of him this coming year on the BBC.

I liked Joe on Strictly so I'm hoping he doesn't accept everything that is thrown at him ....less is much more, most of the time.

I don't know anything about Strictly as I never watch it but apparently the latest winner is an actor - so at least he should be good at faking sincerity.

Claudia is better - but not much.

My Plan B for Sunday night is now to listen to Friday Night is Music Night on the iPlayer.

Last night's BBC Four comedy 2017: A Year In The Life of a Year took the piss out of Oduba's ubiquity.

I suppose actors sometimes have to make the most of the time when they are "In" as it is a very flavour of the month type of industry now.

True.
Early days yet, for Joe, but I read he isn't being inundated with job offers since his appearance on Strictly.
