As an alternative to the thread about what music you loved, what made you throw things at the wall and have you reaching for the 'off' button?

For me, it was Sam Smith's version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" at the end of Chris's show. Merry? I could have slit my wrists.

And I thought Sam Smith was a brewery in Yorkshire! The sound of Evans's voice alone is enough to make me switch off the radio just as fast as I can, so I didn't hear that track. Some years ago The Pretenders did a good cover of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'.

I will be swiftly reaching for the off button if I ever again have the misfortune to hear the opening bars of Unchained Melody by Van Morrison. It's from his latest album.(Think it's Album of the Week) Ken played it this morning...it was (imo) awful!

Just had a listen on Ken's page and you're right it's terrible. His album is called "Versatile" and I can only assume that's an ironic title as he's sounded exactly the same for about 20 years now. Why anyone keeps playing him, I've no idea.

You are right Becky. I heard it this morning, it's truly awful. A shame as he is / was so talented.
I expect it will feature on Graham Norton's I Can't Believe It's Not Better soon.

And I don't know what Jimmy Young and The Righteous Brothers would have thought.

Besides anything else I found it hard to recognise the song he was singing for what it was!

I totally agree with you there Becky, I thought it sounded absolutely terrible.
Just a tuneless ramble with some occasional intelligible words.

That was excruciatingly bad but it wasn't as utterly awful as Jess Glynne singing "White Christmas" last year.

Makes you wonder how the rest of the album sounds,gazmando...wonder, but not seek it out for a listen. Very Happy

Once In A Lifetime ~ Angélique Kidjo

Jeremy called it 'unusual' when he played it on his programme today The word I would use to describe it...(a) mess..not my cup of tea,at all. Love the original by Talking Heads.
