Just heard announcement of the sudden passing of Ray Thomas of the Moody Blues.
RIP Ray.

Let's hope 2018 doesn't take quite the toll that 2017 did.

Really sad news

I've been a huge Moody's fan since the mid sixties and to me Ray represented much of what gave the band its distinctive sound

I've seen them live on numerous occasions and one of the greatest gigs which sticks in my mind was at Preston Guild Hall in or around 1974 when Ray performed a flute solo which must have lasted at least ten minutes but at no point did it ever become boring unlike many drum solos around that time

I really wish I'd had one last chance to see him in performance again but at least I'll have some great memories - and just the odd 20 plus albums to remember such a great musician including that superb track 'Voices In The Sky' which probably showcases Ray's great talent at its best Smile

Likewise, I am a huge fan and have seen them many times, both before and since Ray's retirement - I think the relentless touring schedule was cited as his main reason, coupled with his failing health.
They are due to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April (for what it's worth - about 25 years overdue). At least Ray was aware of this decision, even if not around to receive the accolade.
He was an essential ingredient in the Moody Blues cocktail of talents.

Sad news indeed. I was hoping that there might have been a performance by all five of the Moodies at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
God bless ya Ray.

Why do they take so long,I wonder, to induct groups/artistes?

Go Now is one of my favourite records from the sixties. As good,if not better, than the original from Bessie Banks ..love it!

Sad to hear of Ray's death.

Go Now is also one of my all time faves as well, Becky. I still have it in its original orange Decca sleeve.

I do Becky but only because I bought a turntable about two years ago, so can still play my beloved vinyl.
When I bought my first single back in 1964 (Tell Me When by The Applejacks, also with the Decca sleeve ) I didn't have a turntable!

Sad to hear that Ray has gone. The Moodies were a huge part of my adolescence.
