I just dont see what's going on here. All this fuss on the Jeremy Vine show about the conservative chap calling somebody a "Ginger Barsteward"...
oh it's disgraceful, oh it's racist, disgusting etc etc.

Well what the heck did I see on TopGear the other evening? Jeremy Clarkson saying they don't normally let ginger haired people in the studio and they smell funny??
Am I missing something?

The chap got the bullet for whatever he said, so how about the BBC sacking big mouth Clarkson.....

and he dosen't like american cars.

I used to like him, but I wonder how they get away with the stunts they pull.
The USA trip was an embarrassment which backfired for sure.
The last programme where they stretched the three cars, how on earth did they get an MOT on them to drive through London?
How can the BBC justify causing the traffic hold ups and damage to bollards in this childish prank?
What about if an ambulance had been in the holdup? ( or anybody late for an appoinment for that matter)
and, was it legal for Clarkson to drive the broken vehicle on the road? (so much for the MOT!! )

How many time was B used on the show? It made me cringe and was talking to the radio asking for him to stop.

It was all cleared with the Met before shooting and better planned than appears (eg: James May didn't actually get lost). Mr. S. - an ex-BBC person himself - knows a couple of people who were involved in the location management! Wink

PS: The American ride was a complete set-up. How do you think all those cars, people, props, etc were in the the right place at the right time?

Yes ginger people do get a hard time don't they. That poor chap on Drivetime gets horrendous abuse just because he has red hair.

So are you saying the vehicles were not MOT'd and there were no real hold ups or damage? It certainly looked that way.

I realise the US trip was mostly set up, but I think upsetting the good ol' boys with the insulting slogans on the cars was for real.

The limmo thing was a set up, to me that was obvious Laughing That chap who James May had in his car was not late for the Brits, he arrived in plenty of time.
The whole thing was scripted as was the American one, I personally thought both programs were hilarious.

I don't think the incident at the petrol station in Alabama was a set up, there was real anger and fear there as I saw it. Stupid stunt to pull.

So if you're right, the part about obtaining MOT's was a lie?

The other week they had a three wheeler atop a pretty good "Shuttle" type launching set up... pretty amusing I'll grant you but what on earth did it cost? cashed strapped BBC.... Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I still think his comments about ginger haired people crossed the line.

I'm saying that were working under the same conditions as if a feature film was being shot in the streets of the city where liaison has been done with the London Film & TV liaison office and the Metropolitan Police.

They were accompanied with minders for that scene - and it was set up too.

There seems to be a disagreement between Clarkson & the BBC as to whether Top Gear will be returning to our screens. Clarkson said yesterday in his newspaper column that it wasnt, the BBC in a statement said it was.

Reading between the lines it seems "management" may not be happy with the editorial tone of the show and Clarkson may be threatening to walk away from it unless he has his way to do as he wishes.
