I'll take your word for it about the content Ian! I did wonder what was going on when I saw the listing. I think the other guy is the one who does the overnight show, I've heard the odd trailer and it didn't inspire me to listen one little bit!

Can we hope that Whiley has got fed up and gone off on holiday last minute and left them in even more in the lurch?

BBC national radio just seems to go from bad to worse. I listen to BBC Radio Tees quite a lot during the day time at weekends now. To follow on from what 'oldraver' says, some of you may like to catch up with Colin Bunyan's Vintage Vinyl on Sundays from 2-5pm. He plays music from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s.

Thank you for this gem Angela! I had a quick look at some playlists yesterday but decided to go to the earliest available on iPlayer today that doesn't have one. It's not disappointing me at all!! Smile

PS I'm listening to the one you heard yesterday Raver, San Franciso has just come on. Smile

I wouldn't pay too much heed to the playlists, H. I'd say every one in two! The rest are lovely surprises. Judging by the latest one, anyway.

Oh yes...Drivetime. It's a no-go area! Total mess.

I just looked at the latest playlist to get a vague idea, but the earliest one on iPlayer was without one so as you say full of surprises!

Ian was correct in his description of the latest pair to sit in. I left it on after hearing the last half hour or so of Craig Charles and they were worse than ILR, probably worse than Radio 1. I quickly switched over to Magic.

The only positive thing to say about Borg and Scanlan this week is that even though the show is bland rubbish they do actually have more chemistry than Whiley and Mayo.

Yes, I thought that, when I switched on the car radio yesterday evening. As you know,, it's all request Friday and they were very good, talking to some young girl on the phone. So I kept it on for a change. Mind you, it was a short journey!

I didn't last that long Raver, the opener and the first track put me off!

Forgive me Father, for I listened to the Harry Hill interview of today's godforsaken programme while taking my Grandaughter to swimming practise. I promise I switched over as soon as it finished.

Even then Jo Whiley was so out of place. Forced laughs and a terrible interviewing style, if that's what you could call it.

Last evening, I chanced across R2 while watching my Granddaughter's swimming practise and surfing my personal DAB player. I promise I wasn't going to stay, but I heard Liza Tarbuck's voice, along with Simon's...she was standing in for the day. And to top it all off, Rick Wakeman was on there. too. He's always great value, so can't recommend a listen highly enough.

Course, if you don't want to hear the blather and just the Rick bit, then around 1hr 30 mins in, is where it can be found...maybe a few minutes later. His version of S&G's The Boxer, will give you goosebumps. Iintelligent questions from Liza to Rick, as well. Goes to show that with the right partner...

Yeah, a lot of praise for the Simon/Liza combo last night.

I wonder if she's on tonight? I didn't hear last night, may give it a 'listen again'.

Given the massive amount of praise for Liza last night (and loads of comments about no need for these two to 'bed in' to find the chemistry) I would expect Jo to be crawling out of her sick bed and reclaiming her seat as soon as possible!

You're welcome, Foggy. The Salvador Dali story is priceless!

Paddy O'Connell was today's co-host and again there was better chemistry with Simon than Whiley has. Simon (who has barely tweeted about the drivetime show for months) has sounded happy and enthused again these last couple of nights.

I enjoyed Simon and Paddy as well, Ian. Also, another Ian - Rankin, was a pleasurable listen, while peeling the veg.

I'd forgotten how much I'd missed it. Enjoy it while it lasts.
