Born in New York City in 1952 to a teenage mother, he spent his early life immersed in his parents’ bohemian, beatnik, and drug-dominated lifestyle. Drugs played a part in Nile's life too from an early age, and he took his first acid trip with Timothy Leary at the age of 15.

An interesting edition but I got the idea that he liked himself....quite a bit.

Not quite an Elisabeth Schwartzkopf* but not far behind her...

Elisabeth Schwartzkopf* is remembered by a handful of opera enthusiasts for her career as a soprano, but whatever singing ability she may have had is almost entirely eclipsed by her appearance in 1958 on Desert Island Discs, a BBC radio programme that requires interviewees to choose eight songs that would be their sole entertainment on a desert island. Seven of her choices featured her own voice, and the eighth was the instrumental prelude to an opera recording in which she was the star...

On a par with Norman Wisdom though.... Very Happy

Norman Wisdom chose five of his own songs, including the appropriately titled Narcissus.

Nile Roger's choice of music for his desert island included Chic - La Freak (Co written/produced by band member Nile) We Are Family - Sister Sledge. (Co-written and produced by Nile) Lets Dance - David Bowie* (Produced by Nile) Get Lucky - Daft Punk (Co written by Nile) Good Times - Chic (Co written/produced by band member Nile.

Nile Rodgers on Desert Island Discs " David Bowie was in awe of me"

Yes, I enjoyed the show but I did tune in thinking it would be good to hear the sort of stuff that have influenced him. But, having heard him, I'm amazed he managed to narrow it down to just 5 songs, what with all them being masterpieces that mean something. Apparently.
