I keep recommending this book but would like other peoples verdicts apart from my friends and relatives. They all say they enjoyed this story of a young lad in the 1940's London but would like to hear if other people outside London enjoyed it as much as us!

Although I've had nop replies on this website to my question "Boys from the wood" has anyone else read this book? There is a lovely response on the Richard and Judy Book Club website from someone in Liverpool. So perhaps wherever you lived in the UK in the 1940's this book appeals to everyone.

MajorLondonboy,

Due to your never ending enthusiasm for this book I will be reading it at some point (hopefully get it for Christmas), if it's half as good as your recommendation I'm in for a great read!

Captain Pugwash, I can only go by what other people tell me. I enjoyed it and so did friends I know. But we are all Londoners, so I just wondered if it would be nostalgic for other people over 50 and educational for youngsters! I'll probably know more after Christmas as I have given some as Christmas presents! Laughing

Major,

I'm origionally from London, so probably won't count! Although I wasn't born during the war and left London about 40 years ago when I was 10.

Laughing Captain Pugwash, Have you read "Boys from the Wood" yet? Someone on the "Richard and Judy Bookclub" website has read it 4 times! So I guess it's not just my friends and relatives in London who've enjoyed it!

Hi,
Just heard from several people that some schools are doing World War 2 projects and their children found this book very useful. Hope this helps someone out there! :
