2 of the most delightful cubs (age 10 or so ) from thelocal scout group have just knocked at my front door asking if we have got any jumble for their forthcoming jumble sale.
Normally we give "stuff"we no longer want to charity shops but the cubs request made me think perhaps I should consider jumble sales in the future.
To be honest I thought jumble sales had died out but clearly not. Guess jumble sales for cub/scout groups help keeop these associations going for youngsters which to my mind is far better than the high street charity shops who seem very aloof/distant to me half the time.
What are your views. |

Scout Groups are nearly always strapped for cash, but what is worse, Leaders, adult helpers and committee members, so if you really want to help your local Scout Group, be a leader, adult helper or go on the committee. Lets face it, if you can give the kids something interesting and challenging to do, their energy will be spent doing something constructive rather than destructive, which benifits the whole community. As for charity shops or jumble sales, they are both deserving causes, but all of the money from the Scout Group jumble sale will normally go into their coffers to help pay for the routine running costs of the Group.

Jumble Sales v Charity Shops? Has to be Charity Shops, I don't like fighting it out with old ladies at jumble's - those women take no prisoners and kill their own _________________ Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. |
